We have the exact same Mixmaster as the one in the middle of the picture. Not a bad machine all in all. It doesn't have the heft of a vintage machine, but it does a fine job just the same.

Wow. Quite a haul there Martin. I haven't found anything as exciting at our local goodwill store. But the other day I noticed a new thrift store and a Habitat Re-store that just opened up. Hubby will be at work this weekend so its the perfect opportunity to hunt for some treasures and sneak... er.. bring them home. :)

Bloody hell...

You should have a look at www.ebay.com.au and see what vintage mixmasters go for here...you'll faint

I recently bought an MXG (with worklight) that came with blender and juicer for AUD$40.00....works great except on speeds 8-12....still, am more than happy with it....

Have just bought a 9B-B in yellow off ebay for...wait for it...AUD$155.....

Mixfinder...thanks for the offer, I have a lot of spare parts I have collected along the way, funny that my mothers one and only still today is a PINK model 12, got it for her 2nd anniversary from my father....now I have about 8 Mixmasters and spare bowls to boot.....I like being able to mix and juggle bowls without having to wash the ONE bowl when I'm on a roll.....

I also like that ONE style bowl fits every model thru out the years, just recently Sunbeam has changed the style of bowls

As for thrift stores, just seems if your out LOOKING for something you never find it, I had time to waste between appointments, so I thought to pass the time, I'll take a look thru, and thats when you find it!

Anyone need a turquoise can opener?

Martin, that's always the way it works. If you're looking for a particular item, you'll never find it, but stop by a thrift store on a whim and one can end up with a bonanza like you did.

That's my mom's first mixer on the right. I wonder how many others here could probably say the same thing!

All of that stuff for $21? I think just one of those mixmasters would go for that in the thrifts around here. You go, guy!

Well worth $21. The middle mixer, the Euro style Mixmaster at least that's what I think they called it when it came out, are actually very good mixers. They don't bob as much as the standard style and a little quieter. Of course you can remove the mixer from the stand to do big batches in a pot though.

This IS my Mummy's one and only mixer....and she still uses it today, it's a model 11, (the white one is a model 12) said she bought it around 1951, only had the cord replaced once, broken a few bowls, always the big one, but other than that never a problem, just really shows the wear and tear of usage, here is also the juicer attachment, she has a grinder one also but I couldn't find it.....

Martin, your mom's mixer is a thing of beauty just the way it is. The message is clear: Your mom has turned out a lot of love with the unfailing help of that machine and it shows. I would never change a thing about that mixer. Its special message would be lost forever. Display it proudly!

Thanks Ralph, nice of you to say.......

for my mummy, there's definately a method to her madness....lol....how she raised us 7 I'll never know, I now have 5 and with all the conviences it keeps me running...actually when growing up we had a double kithen, washer, sink, and a long counter in the back one, stove, refirg, and a huge table in the second, with all that space, no one was in the way, but she was really able to juggle cooking, preparing meals, wash clothes, all at the same time, never thought about it, but my laundry rooms are far from the kitchen, basicaly one task at a time, something to think about having the laundry in the kitchen again....

we had a slumber party last night, 3 more kids, so this morning, I decided to use her mixer and dug out the bisquick, and prepared a full breakfast, eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, OJ, and mother's famous pancakes....not one crumb left even for the dogs......just memories of growing up, loks likeit going to be a good weekend, next time you'll have to join us....bring your jammies....lol

Very nice mixers Martin! My mom had that sunbeam and i would love it when she made cakes, I love to smell the batter from the motor fan when she was mixing.
If had known what I know now about vintage machines, I would have kept the mixer she got rid of when she bought a Kitchenaid oh well.
