I have personally had, 1965 Rollermatic, 1978 1-18, and their matching dryers.  Also had non working unimatic with it's matching dryer.  Gave away those.  The Maytag's are still in use today as my daily drivers.  The Frigidaire's have been sold off.   Not that they weren't fun, did not like all that noise and problems that came along with them.  My choice!

There were some here too, back in the day. I know in the 70's there was a place that sold used appliances and new Norge washers and dryers called Crosstown Appliances. Another department store here by the name of Vandevers, back in the 60's sold Norge washers and dryers too.

I'm not sure what year the store started selling Frigidaire, but they had been selling Maytag for many, many years. The Frigidaire sign out front was pretty old (from the late 40's or early 50's) when I worked there. The store (original location in Hillsboro, OH) was started in 1849 and was in business until 1986. I do know the company was selling GE back in the 50's, but by the early 60's another store a block away got GE. That store previously sold Westinghouse, Speed Queen and Norge. Another store around the corner sold Hotpoint at one time, but got out of the appliance business by the mid 60's.

The link tells about the store. The location I worked in is at the lower left. The top left and righ pics show a circa 1940 GE refrigerator, and a GE sign in the right one.
