Never in a million years did I think I'd find myself washing a load of whites (mostly uber-stained flour-sack dishtowels, bar mops, dish rags, chef's aprons) in cold water. In fact, I had to force myself to switch that temp selector knob to the Precision Temp (65-degrees) 'cold' setting. My skepticism was exacerbated by the fact that Liquid Tide Cold-Water is not an HE formula, and I have a FL machine. Plus, this was Friday and some of these stained items had been in the whites hamper since much earlier in the week.
I used the 'normal load' dosage, added bleach and fired up the Frigidaire.
Fully expecting to have to wash the load again (this time sensibly, in hot water), imagine my surprise when the load came out......spotlessly CLEAN! Even stains which I normally have problems with using hot water, bleach and Tide HE (tomato-grease combos like BBQ sauce, spaghetti sauce, ketchup) came out completely!
Furthermore, I had less of a sudsing problem in my very soft water with Tide Cold-Water than I do with the HE version.
Thinking this must be a fluke, I took advantage of prepping for a Sunday brunch buffet at my house to brutally stain the next batch of kitchen whites. I let them dry out all day, then washed the load last night. Again, they came out perfectly clean!
All I can say is (ala Scooby Doo), "Huh?"
I highly recommend giving this detergent a try. I'm shocked and amazed and can only hope that whatever wonder-ingredient contained therein doesn't show up in headlines next month as a lethal carcinogen!
