Saw the liquid yesterday whilst down at the shops. IIRC it was the "Glacial" scent. Would like to try the powder, so sent for samples as well.

This is the first time in the history of Tide, P&G has not used the orange bottle/box, and went with the new blue color.

As it seems all versions of Tide are very high sudsing, don't think I'll be able to use Cold Water Tide in my front loader, but one never knows does one? Hoping the powder will be low sudsing in cold water. Liquids aren't really my thing, but if I spy a sale on Tide will get a bottle to see what there is to see.

I bought the powder version and tried it on my whites. Did a good job. However it still did clump a bit and left a bit of a residue after I took the laundry out. I even have a ATC that "tempers" the cold.

Truthfully speaking...

I know it's a matter of personal preference, but IMHO Tide, except for HE, is not the detergent to be using in the front loader. In the 50's, the machines couldn't take the high suds without flowing out the door or stopping (another aunts 55 Bendix will attest to that-God I wish I had that machine; she seldom used it). Call me an old woman, I don't care! Modern FL's probably aren't any different when it comes to det. I suppose if you carefully measure to the load size there shouldn't be much of a problem. Save Tide for the TL'S; use HE or All. That's all, folks! Yes, I'm opinionated on these things, and darn proud of it!

PS.

Personally, I love Tide. I don't think there is a better detergent on the market. Anxious to try CW tide although I think reg. will still work in cold water-well, we'll see. But like most premium brands today, it's expensive compared to what else is out there. Always wanted to try Kirkland Signature from Costco, but the nearest Costco is in Dallas and I'm not a member of obviously. We use Cheer in this household, I don't like it anymore; it's not even blue now. It's kind of a weakened version of Tide-does anyone use today's Cheer? What do you think?

Tide Free

I use the Tide Free right often when I don't particularly want perfumey clothes. It's not very sudsy at all in either my TL or my FL. It appears to be less sudsy than the regular scented varities of Tide, which usually suds up the entire top of my Whirlpool

Cold Water Tide

So NOW they decide that they need a special detergent for cold water after boasting all these years how their detergents work in ALL temperatures of water? More wasted shelf space.

David--- I've used a couple of bottles of liquid Cheer HE and wasn't impressed with its stain-removing capabilities. It seemed to work fine with non-stained loads, though.

Personally, what I miss about most classic-brand detergents are the scents they had in the 1960's-70's. I loved the scent of Cheer powder back when it was blue-colored. (It was Cheer that was blue, back in the day, right? Oh, my poor, feeble memory...) I also miss the scent of Tide from that same time period----it filled the laundry room. We used the suds-saver on our 1960 Kenmore Model 80 all the time, so maybe that's why the scent seemed stronger (with the wash water standing in the open laundry sink). Besides, I was a kid then, so maybe my sniffer was more sensitive.

I tend to keep three bottles of detergent on my shelf. I use Tide HE for whites, and Gain HE or Wisk HE for other loads. It's fun to pick and choose...

Tide Powder in front loaders

Does anyone else have a problem with regular detergent in a front loader? I use regular Tide Powder in my Neptune all the time and have never had a problem with oversudsing.

Use Cheer "Free and Gentle" powder in my Fl'er with little to no problems. Have to watch the dosage with terrycloth items like towels, but otherwise no problems.

One of the local shops is clearing out Cheer Free liquid, so at half off for the 200 oz container, couldn't resist trying. Worse comes to worse, will give it away.

Used a scant tablespoon to launder some bedcovers and throws in warm water. Second rinse was clear as was the final rinse, very low suds in the wash cycle. So it looks like will keep the Cheer F&C liquid around for laundering items in warm or cold water.

What I like about Cheer detergents (have a bottle of Cheer HE that I use for darks), is they do not contain OBA's or fabric whitening agents. Even Tide Free and Clear has fabric whitening chemicals I'd rather do without. If my whites need anything extra, there is always a drop or two of bluing in the final rinse.

yes, frigelux, I too miss the smell of the old detergents, most of which had there own unique smell (well Surf and Rinso did somewhat smell the same). Tide, ahhh, what can I say, cheer mmm, Bold, Fab, even Duz. I used to be able to identify the product used in a home usually just by the exhaust from the dryer vent. I don't think my nose is up to that now. Oh yes, someone recently remarked how the liquids were taking over the shelves. I clearly see that from a recent trip to walmart. God, I couldn't believe it-possibly the larger containers take up more room than do the powder boxes

Re: Tide

Hi! Club Friends, I checked out the new Tide "Cold Water" at one of our many local Wal-Marts and they've got both the Liquid and Powder. I wrote down their Prices, Oz. and number of Loads per container.

The Liquid is 80-oz. with a 20-Load amount use at $4.94 and the Liquid suggests that this 20-Load use was available basically with using Line-1 {lower amount} instead of Line-2 {higher amount} {in the Measuring Cap}, in order to get this total amount of 20-Load use per Container.

The Powder is 177-oz. with a 63-Load amount use at $12.83

There are several brands of Powder Detergents there too, besides what I assumed being a Wal-Mart "Generic" called Ultra. They also had Tide, All, Cheer, Arm & Hammer, Gain, Purex and possibly a few other Brands, {but I didn't write them all down, just using my memory of the most popular brands} and most of these had Scented and some with Fabric Softener and some with Bleach.

Peace and Happiness, Steve

Re: Tide

Hi! Club Friends, I was curious as to why Tide didn't come out with a Tide Cold Water "HE" for Front-Load Washers. Below is my original Note asking and their Reply and Extra Comment back to me.

"I Asked"
I would like to know with so many people looking into buying Front-Load Washers, why you didn't come out with a Tide Cold Water "HE" besides the typical/normal Liquid and Powder Detergent Products? I feel that was very wrong of Tide to not include the "HE" type of Detergent, in both Liquid and Powder, for those of us that have the Front-Load Washers?

"Tide's Answer"
I'm sorry you're disappointed that we didn't offer a Tide HE for Cold-Water. At this time, we don't recommend using Tide Cold-Water in a high efficiency washer. It's too high Sudzing if you use a full dose. If you reduce the usage amount to control the suds level, you may also affect cleaning performance. Still, I'm sharing your interest in a Tide HE for Cold-Water with the rest of the Tide Team. Messages like yours help us to produce the items our consumers want and need.
