I have been reading the threads on detergent and wonder how well the Tide CW is compared to regular powdered Tide. My Kenmore has auto temp control and would like to start washing things in cooler water.

I heard so many great things about it and have actually used the liquid, but i hear the powder works better,so..is the CW powder actually better then the regular Tide powder?

Thanks
Pat

Great stuff

I love the Tide Coldwater powder. My machine is not temperature controlled and it dissolves readily and removes soil in even frigid water. It's particularly good on blood, protein stains, and grass stains. And yes, your whites are clean and white in cold. :-)

I would say it's at least as effective as Tide with Bleach powder when used in warm water, and much more effective than regular Tide powder. Smells great in Fresh Scent and Glacier scent too....not nearly as strong of a scent as the liquid stuff but pleasant.

I would use it more often, but it irritates my skin unless I rinse twice, which I usually don't have time to do. I have that problem with any product that contains enzymes, however.

I've been using powdered Tide CW for about 6 months. I'm confident you'll find it cleans very well. I have soft water, which helps, and I use liquid chlorine bleach when I wash my highly-stained white loads. Overall, I think it's at least as good as any of the Tide products. I used liquid Tide HE for several years and powdered Tide CW removes stains the HE version left behind. Consumer Reports' two highest-rated detergents (both scored equally) were Tide With Bleach and powdered Tide CW.

Note: Liquid Tide Coldwater DOES NOT remove stains as well as the powdered version. If that's all you can find, then opt for one of the other Tide products.
Even when using the powdered version, it helps to use your temp-controlled cold water setting. I washed a highly-stained load in very cold Minnesota tap water this winter and noticed some greasy stains were not removed as well as when I wash in 65-degree temp-controlled water.

Why I like powdered Tide CW: 1) excellent cleaning and stain removal; 2) energy savings; 3) less wear & tear on clothing
