Tim Hunkins Program on Washing Machines

After adding a further 46 photos to my photo collection (please take a look, I have organised it a bit as well), I came across this pic. If you haven't seen this program I suggest you have a look as it is all about the evolution of the washing machine. The only part I think is tiresome is the car stunt that really has nothing to do with anything. But apart from that it's very informative.

Tin Hunkin has said he's an "enthusiast" for washing machines. I guess he hasn't realized that people actually collect these things.

I'm not very familiar with British washing machines. But I will have a go anyway.

On the top: Probably Hotpoint.

Second row: On the right: Hotpoint

Third row: The frontloader at the right could be a Bendix

Fourth row: Creda dryer, Hoover (Keymatic?) washer, Bendix (?)

Fifth row: The last two from left to right: Zanussi and Colston

Sixth row: Number four seems like a Philips to me.

I think I see a few more Zanussi's, but did Zanussi ever have square doors?

Naming of the machines...

Well at the moment I'm at a loose end so I thought I'd have a stab at Mike's challenge:-

At the top...a Hotpoint 18 series of some description.

The following two: A Hoover Autowasher from the mid 70's & A Hotpoint

Some spin dryer followed by a Servis then a Hoover Electronic 1100 (2nd series) from the very early 80's. Then a Bendix, then the single tub thingy.

Next row: Looks like a parnall dryer, then a Hoover Keymatic, then a Philco, then an Indesit, then a Hoover twinnie, followed by the spin dryer

Row 5 from top: Hoover single tub, a Servis Auto, another hoover twinnie, Washcraft Zanussi, Hoover Electronic 800, Bendix, A colston washer, then a Colston Washer/Dryer.

Bottom row: A zanussi, a Candy, a Hoover Electronic, Bendix, (something covered in soap), Hoover from the 70's again, A Zanussi (or maybe a Candy), a Servis and finally a Mid 70's Hoover.

I can't help but notice that all the ma-cheans are white.

Perhaps those familiar with the appliances in UK know if they ever came in colors like in U.S.? Did they coincide with the color themes on this side of the pond?

Servis MK72, another Hoover, Bendix, Servis wringer washer??, Creda compact dryer, Hoover Keymatic, another Bendix, Indesit L series, unknown twinny, fridgidaire spinner?? Hoover washer (twinny), another Servis, unknown twinny, Candy, Hoover 800 1970s, another Bendix, 2 Electra/Phillips dryers, unknown, Phillips 90series with no door, another Hoover, poss Phillips/Electra, unknown, another Hoover, Creda debonair, another Servis and finally another Hoover.

Phew probably 5 out of 10.

So Mike do you have the answers and also possibly the years made? Any better pics too? I love 1970s front loaders.
