Went into PoundStretcher today and found some 'Time' bio tablets made by Gumption. I noticed they contained phosphates instead of zeolites. I thought phosphates were banned in laundry detergents? Personally prefer the phosphate based detergents. Is it left up to the detergent makers to eliminate phosphates voluntarily or enforced by law?

Isin't Time..

The Chinese Knockoff, of Tide (P&G's TOL American Product)??. I've actually heard of Time before, but it wasn't a Powder or Tablet, instead it was a Liquid Detergent, that had the Tide Bullseye design, and apparently was halted at the boarder before they could get it shipped into the country.

CNBC did a really nice special on Counter-fitting, and that was the First Time I ever heard of it.

Gotta Admit, the packaging design is really similar to Tide.

Phosphates

I don't beleive there is an E.U. wide ban at present, rather it is left up to individual states to make up the rules on the matter.

tbh, there is no difference in the performance of phosphates vs. zeolites in detergent formulations, and I would much prefer a high performing, non-phosphated detergent over an unknow brand which does contain them. Then again, water where I live is so soft no water softner is necessary, your kettle or shower will never scale and dishwashers do not require salt or "all in one" products to clean optimally, infact I found adding salt or using dishwasher detergents with built in water softner only serves to cause excessive etching on glassware and tarnish on bare and painted metals.

It only really seems to be an issue accross the pond, where I can only assume phosphate was removed but not replaced with a suitable substitute as it has been here.

I've seen

The bags of Time detergent in Poundies, but not the tablets.

They also do a dishwasher detergent, I know a UK member here rates it highly.

Optima

I had a feeling it was you who had used the Time dishwasher gel but wasn't sure. Good to know if I ever get round to getting a D/W!

Time is made by Gumption, that's what it says on the box of Bio tablets I have. Never heard of them before.

Have already asked this but can't remember who I asked. Can UK residents buy Tide or Whisk? I remember Whisk and rated it very highly and it had a lemony scent which was lovely. Been looking at the Whisk YouTube channel Hazanussi, bit of nostalgia.

Time

I've got a bottle of Time washing up liquid (not the one for dishwasher). Can't remember where I got it, but had it a while. So it sounds like they have an entire range of stuff.

Liberator - it was me you asked, yes you can - ebay have got Wisk capsules on at the moment at not too bad a price.
