I'm in the process of overhauling a Maytag E2LP and removed the pump earlier today. I got the pump cover off the volute and found that the inside was a mess. The shaft seems to be frozen and it was clogged with an amazing amount of silt.

My guess is the machine was stored out doors and the crown caught and trapped water. Oddly the bottom of the tub is in very good condition.

The kiss of death is that I touched one of the impellers and got it to deflect. Should I contact Phil for a replacement?

If you can get the

Shaft moving, and clean off the silt? Maybe you can get it to work again, you don't have anything to loose since it out, and apart.

well don't trash it. if you find a new or used one that works ill take the old one for sure and tinker with it. I keep lookin for one but cant find one so id be happy to tinker with your old one. cant hurt to ask ya know
