Yes, it's only October, but it's time once again for the annual

Automatic Washer Secret Santa!

For those of you new to the family, here's how it works: You send your information to the S.I.C. (Santa in charge, namely me) and my staff of well-trained assistants records the data. Once all participants have entered, I randomly assign each one of you to be the Secret Santa for another member, providing you all the pertinent details. You then need to think up some clever or interesting gift (costing no more than 20 bucks) for your person and send it off. It's easy!
Mostly, we try to keep the names a secret but that only lasts a little while and then people start blabbing--either way, it's fun!
Want to give it a try? Just send your

AWO Username

Real Name

Shipping Address

Any information you'd like your Santa to know

to:

[email protected]

I will send out the assignments the first week of November to give plenty of time for creative shopping.

Things to remember:

Clever is better than extravagant

Don't spend more than 20 bucks (not counting shipping)(which kind of kills that whole "extravagant" thing anyway...)

If you want to reveal your identity, go ahead!

If you have no idea what to get your person, you may ask Santa to find out for you.

Santa does not take bribes; Santa does, however, take donations

I already nearly go hoarse from repeating "HUMBUG!" between Thanksgiving and Xmas. Geez, it's not even Halloween yet, I'm still devastated over the passing of summer LESS than two weeks ago, and now this? Quick! Where's the nearest rock with room for a six-footer to hibernate until 12/26/07?

Well, I'm not too happy about it either. Seeing Christmas trees in the stores right next to the Halloween costumes just makes me throw up a little bit.

I only start this early because people tend to procrastinate and I like to give time for creative thinking.

Next week, I'll announce the first annual

I know Bob, I am a champion procrastinator myself so understand your strategy. I just am always dragged into fall and winter kicking and screaming the whole way. The fact that we didn't get much of a summer in these parts isn't helping matters at all this year!

I'm in!

One of the reasons for announcing this now is to allow anyone overseas to participate at seamail rates.

I've been doing this for years at another board of mine (writers of intentional humour,) and many of our international members participate.

Nordstrom's used to hold off on decorating for Christmas until Thanksgiving. I wonder if they still hold to that delightfully sensible policy?

Dear Mr. - O - Matic

I chirp, chirp ; realize that I am not very well known
on this site , chirp, chirp; and the few that might have a slight chirp, chirp ; idea of who I chirp, chirp am, don't
really care for chirp, chirp me all that much ; I sure hope
you will consider letting me chirp, chirp participate in your
wonderful program. Do you think you might like to be my chirp,
chirp secret Vegentine next February 14th 2008? I have some very nice candy for you my sweet!!! chirp chirp

Sounds like Fun

Veg, your timing is perfect. My muse tends to go ape shit in October with ideas. Canisters beware the torch and cut off disk.

I'm in too!

This will be my 3rd Christmas doing this, its great fun and I know Santa Veg goes to alot of work to do it too!

Overseas Shipping Rates

The postal service did away with Surface Mail so now all the offer is First Class International (for items under 4 pounds). Everything else has to go Priority Mail or Express Mail.

Surface mail was wonderful, I wish they hadn't done away with it. It took forever but it was cheap!

It took forever but it was cheap

Unfortunately they were losing money on it because of all the packages that were too big and not being caught by the counter personnel (size was a big factor in figuring the cost because of shipping container size)! Another case of people abusing the system, and we all pay the price.

So true!

I know that there were many people who abused the system who ruined it for all of us (doesn't that sound typical of lots of things in our lives???).

BTW, I want in this year!

I forgot to add that I want into the festivities this year!

Provided that I get some help with the receiver's wants and needs. :-)

HoHos at the ready..

Working' on it Beth, workin' on it.

As for all of you who say you want in but haven't sent me your information...whaddya waiting for? Christmas?

Truth be told, Santa's inbox was flooded with the names of good boys and girls who want to participate.

Okay, so there were a couple of naughty ones too, but I'm trying not to be judgemental ;)

To "frontaloadotmy": I'm chirp chirp not sure what you're chirp chirp talking about. Do I chirp chirp know you?
Does chirp chirp anyone?

I dunno what to "bribe" YOU with this year, Bob....but count me in and gimme someone good! LOL ;-)

As far as the Secret Valentine, do gay guys really like women like myself? LMAO! You decide, sweetie.

I'll check in periodically to see Santa's progress.
