Thanks for the info guys.. I been looking here and there, and pretty much all of them are made in China! Ugh.. I may have to look at estate sales, or Salvation Army store for old ones.

If you're toasting regular size pieces of bread, it's hard to beat something like the Toastmaster 1B6 from the late 1930s. I've been using mine for 25 years.

Hi Chris,

Michael's mum still has the manual version of your toaster, with no issues, we had the 4 slice version, but it broke at about 18 months old. The remake of the toastmatic is pretty cool.

Sunbeam couldnt replace it with one the same, so we got a 4 slice cafe series back.

It toasts perfectly evenly, the crumpet setting works well and it hasnt needed adjusting so far, it sits on 5, and is yet to burn anything.
