Ive spotted the following machines:

1) Philips Whirlpool 997 Washer Dryer (leaking) - mightve been built by Servis looking at the control panel & 4 drum paddles:

2) Zanussi (WDT series) Turbodry Washer Dryer - dryer no longer working but washer is:

3) Hotpoint (compact) Super Dryer 1731 - dates from the early 80's i believe, possibly late 70's (my parents got one in 1981):

4) Zanussi TD30 Compact Dryer - matches the washcraft series of washing machines i think:

5) Servis 'Multivent' Dryer. This looks like something that'll get a few Servis fans excited:

6) Zanussi Tumble Dryer (mid 80s TD series machine) with autoreverse & delay timer.

There's also a couple of Hoover Soft Wave washers & a Hotpoint 95492 & 95450 on there. Though i think Newwave might be hoping for the 95450.

Did a trawl at work this dinnertime and stumbled across some of those.

Yep - the TD30 is the compact washcraft dryer from zanussi and that dryer, with the time delay, is the elctricity board exclusive, model ED207.

All great stuff.

Ive seen one other Whirlpool like that, again on Ebay, about a year ago, but it was in a real bad state, very rusty. Never seen any in the metal tho. I think it mustve been made just before the Philips name was dropped (possibly a model just prior to the Aqua Line machines).

That TD30 would be a good start to my collection, as id like the Washcraft range to add to my FL1012. Though the ED207 sounds a tad more exclusive - i wonder why it had a brown facia, rather than the usual light or dark grey!

Cause the leccy boards always liked to differentiate their machines from the normal range (as probably did the manufacturers too).

I have never really understood the exclusive thing. As far as I am concerned they are a pain the the proverbial, when you try and research model line ups, as they are the first variants that the main manufacturers tend to forget. Finding out things about them is therefore more difficult than would otherwise be the case (the only adverts you tend to see them in are leccy boards ones = quite rare).

Thanks to Tom (hotpoint9534), I think I have the leccy board zannys sussed.

This and the above are the only ones I have piccies of and, I have to say, I do like the colouring. More subdued than the standard machines, but equally as smart.

You should go for one (or both - space permitting) Liam.
Both are smart machines - the compact looks great!

It does seem strange to add a delay timer & maybe a couple of other bits & sell them as exclusives, wouldve thought Zanussi would have wanted to have those features as part of their standard range. I guess that's how things were different a few years ago.

I like the idea of having one with a brown facia, but i bet i'll never find the matching washer!

Hi FL1012, the delay timer was specified by the Electricity Boards so their customers could take advantage of Economy 7 (cheaper electricity at night).

Early Philips/Whirlpool washer dryers

These were indeed made by Antonio Merloni (manufacturer of Servis and Diplomat). The example on ebay has done extremely well to last so long... it deserves an award of some kind!

Zanussi Electicity Board models:
Ofcourse, Economy 7! We had that when Mum got her first automatic washer. I think we used a timer plug on ours as it was a Hotpoint & didn't have such mod cons, but that's a bloody good idea with those Zanussis. I want one now!

Philips Whirlpool Washer Dryer:
Im glad i spotted the Servis identity in this! I think it was the massive square power light that gave it away - looks abit like the design on the old Rainwave machines, think they were also called Gem, but not 100%.

Are you going to bid on it? Go on! ;-)

I had a few friends at school that had the same Philips Whirlpool washer/dryer. Good machines from what I remember.

Philips/Whirlpool do seem to have consistently turned out fairly decent machines from what ive seen.

The main weak spots ive spotted were the programmers spinning round by themselves on the Solutions/Creations/Inspirations (and similar) machines and rust/scabby paintwork.

Certainly they seem better quality now than Hoover & Hotpoint. Dunno if anyone else has any thoughts on Whirlpool?

Someone i know has the Whirlpool Inspirations washer.It isnt the best but gets the job done quite well.

Yeh im guessing these were Whirlpools bad stage? My mates mum had a similar one and she's changed to Bosch now so im guessing she wasnt overly impressed either.

Still, i dont think they break down like modern Hoovers & Hotpoints?
