A nice detail

I like the addition of the two-prong adapter. It's that sort of avant-garde touch that says, "I don't worry about the little things like electrocution." Whoever had it before was not only a frequent "Queen of Clean" follower but also very cutting-edge :-)

...........THE FULL STORY!

The washer cleaned up beautifully. This washer was never outside, it was in a guy's basement. (so you can imagine the condition of the basement!) Robert went to repair this guy's other washer, (a later model Hotpoint) and spotted it. We went to pick up the machine and the basement was N A S T Y ! ! ! This man had inherited the home from his Father when he passed away. The basement was full of junk. He said that his dad NEVER threw anything away, and looking at the basement, I sure believed him. Thousands of old used sparkplugs, radio/tv/phono combos, furniture, toys, and the list goes on. Junk piled to the ceiling with just a small path to get through and we had to move lots of stuff to get the machine out. The guy told us that when his mother used it last, (six years ago) that it worked perfectly. We hooked it up and sure enough, it did! I fugured that it would need a pump or belt at the least, but it fired up and washed like a champ. Robert cleaned on the machine a good half day and of course it DOES need a paint job badly. No problems otherwise.

Although the chances are nil, that adapter may actually have been properly attached to the outlet. Note that those were never allowed in Canada.

Was it still plugged down in the basement?

TO KENMORE1978

Nope it wasn't pluged in. Just sitting there having made way for a Hotpoint set. The combos we couldn't get to but the homeowner promised to call when he cleared a path to it. By the way, I restored an RCA phono/radio/color tv combo from the 60's that I use in the West Virginia house. Took digital photos but have no idea where they are. If I can find them I'll post them. It really turned out spectacularly! Mark

Hi All! I've been in West Virgina for the past week and have not had a chance to get over to Robert's to get some pictures of this beauty. Soon as I do though, I'll post 'em!
PS. I have talked to Robert (almost every day) and he is now using that machine as his main washer! Mark

Kool Kenmore!

I`m like Veg, This one should get the dirtiest washer award! I`m sure you guys will have it looking like new in notime. But what about those stairs behind it? Are they up to code!

UPDATE!!!

Roanoke Robert has replaced the belt and the pump just for good measure! Here is the machine washing a load of clothes. Cosmetically has not yet been restored, but is in process. Will update when complete. Mark
