Today's pics are Norge and I have a question about the dryer. The top has 2 openings , one is larger and white. Is that the lint filter? And there's a second small chrome/stainless opening. What's that for? Thanks! Greg

The big door on the top is access to light the pilot light if it goes out. It also contains the rest of the gas heat mechanism. The little door is most likely a place to add water for in-dryer sprinkling.

If im not mistaken that little door is indeed for a sprinkler if you look over the door opening, there is a white lever, that lifts the tub off its rollers and you can put a stationary rack inside for drying shoes or sweaters, Call me sometime, i lost a bunch of numbers and lost touch, hope all is well in Wilmington.

Jon, our 1963/1964 TOL Norge Dryer didn't have a little door on top like the one in the POD. Thus my thought as to why it was a sprinkler resevoir. That as popularized feature with WP, Kenmore, Maytag and Frigidaire TOL models. The Norge pair in the POD ad was like 1962 or 1963, the last of the solid tub Norge washers. From what I remember from our literature from the dryer, you pulled the lever on the Stop'n'Dry feature to stop the tub tumbling. Then the hair dryer somehow locked itself inside the dryer door opening. The dryer in the ad had the S'n'D lever at the top of the door opening with a pull lever. On our dryer, it was on the control panel and essentially mirrored the washer panel, with the dryer stop tumble lever where the water level slider was on the panel.
