I really like this ad, however I wonder what the Whirly folks were thinking when they showed both machines full of water but have one water level setting on low and the other one on medium!

Anyway, what a kool vintage ad.

56 Whirlpool Imperials

I have these in my collection, and I love them. They are cool! But I would not own them, if it were not for having several friends in this club.

Dryer

Thanks to Kenny (Goatfarmer) for snagging the dryer off of a junkpile for me. Thanks again Kenny!

Washer

And thanks to Gregm for trading one of my restored washers for two of his unrestored washers.

Thanks again Greg!

I got the washer from Greg in 2003, and the Kenny found the matching dryer in 2004. I was delighted to get just the washer, so you can imagine how happy I was to be able to own the matching dryer.

What a beautiful set, Rick. Another case of where patience pays off. One would think that Whirlpool washers & dryers would be around, but my supplier has yet to get either one in.

Stunning!

Those are beautiful Rick!!! Man what i wouldn't give if machines today had some style to them...(alot better Quality wouldn't hurt either!!!)
BTW how's the Roller-Matic coming along?

Mark

Thanks guys! Never saw this POD before, so Robert must have found some new ones. Great POD.

Good Flub catch Steve!
Wonderful machines everyone! You are lucky to have them in your collection! I think this is the most attractive sets Whirlpool ever made!

Hi Mark, Rollermatics are on hold right now, but hope to have them done before Fall. The 1966's have been apart since this Spring, so I am ready to get them done. Am waiting for parts on the 1960 (which has been apart for years anyway, and is just an empty shell), and waiting for cabinet work on the 1966's, but the mechanicals are done on the 1966 washer and dryer.

Also am picking up a 1960's Montgomery Wards washer from Kenny this Saturday. I call it the Monkey Norge.... It's another junkyard queen, so it should be fun!! Just what I need too!! <:

Beautiful machines Rick. They look awesome together, and are fitting new occupants of the space where the 1965 Kenmores once stood.

Have a good one,
James

Takes me back

That looked so familiar, very much like our old Whirlpool. One of the few from that era I've seen, even here. Thanks, Rick, for posting the photos of your pair.

Ours had the same panel (lighted!) but different controls - two turquoise knobs for water level and temperature and the timer sat on top of the clear plastic box, but on the right side. Chrome agitator cap and no 'pop-up' lid, so I'm guessing ours was maybe a '58 or '59. Lasted for years, too! Any guesses as to the vintage and model?

Kelly
