Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Great POD!! Thank's Robert, I wondered what year that was. Looks like the "frog eye" Kenmore in a way. But I like the looks of this model much better.

Ralph, the seven rinses are: four sprays, then one deep, then two sprays. They never used seven deep rinses. Only one.

How similar IS this to the Kenmore of the same era?

My understanding is that Whirlpool was making the Kenmore machines back then. Are they basically the same machine? However, Kenmore doesn't advertise a 7 rinse angle.

I know its been posted before but when did Whirlpool stop making the Kenmores?

Whirlpool still makes most Kenmore top loading washers to this day. They also make most front loading Kenmores these days also. Frigidaire makes one or two top loading and front loading models for them.

Yes the Kenmore version of this machine is almost identical with some minor exceptions. For a very short time Whirlpool also made a bolt down version of this model.

Sorry Jason, it was only 38 years. But that is still a very long time for one design. Those were heavy duty transmitions, and very well built machines. Did any other company use the same design for this long? Anyone know?

is RCA still around? I manage a small set a appartments for the non-profit I work for...one of the units still has a working RCA washer...I remember TV's by RCA but nothing elese.

Through most of my lifetime it was

I think GE assimilated RCA and then snuffed it. Ironically, the last RCA Washing Machines that I remember from the late 1980's were GE/Hotpoint Filter-flo's rebadged with the RCA logo.

You may also remember that when GE acquired the famous RCA building in Rockefeller Center it became rebadged as the "GE building".
