a mint unused Sunbeam Coffeemaster when I was down in DC this week. It looks to be never used, the gasket was as soft as the day it was made. Tomorrow coffee!

I bet your coffee was good, but not half as good as Terry served on Sunday morning at the convention in 2005! Amazing how great coffee he could make!

What's with the water droplets? Did you have to baptize it before allowing it in your kitchen? Just kidding. I hope you enjoy coffee from it for the rest of your life; you should live to be 120 years and 3 days. Why the three days? So you shouldn't die suddenly.

What I have found with vacuum pots is that your regular brew may not taste exactly the same. We found that our previous coffee beans did not taste all that good in a vacuum pot. In a drip pot like our Cuisinart they taste great, but in a vacuum pot they taste only ok.
We experimented around and tried a coffee that we previously thought was only OK and it ended up tasting great in our vac pot. So we switched to that one.
Our Sunday morning coffee is a Hawaiian Kona. It tastes absolutely fantastic in a vacuum pot. The vacuum pot seems to bring out the richness of the beans better than a drip pot did.
So you may wish to experiment with different blends to find which one suits you vac pot the best.

I agree with your comment , I have been using Coffeemasters for years and don't think anything comes close to vacuum coffee. If you use the best beans you get the best flavor out of one of these. Tom had realized I had worn out a lot of the chrome on my pots so he gave me a "new" chrome pot to keep me in vacuum coffee for years to come.
I once called Sunbeam about parts in the 80's and the woman SWORE on the phone Sunbeam NEVER ever made coffee pots!

It's frightening to think that people like the Sunbeam "Lady" exist. I wonder how old she is? I like my vacuum percolators, I just don't use them that often.
