Hey, i've just booked a trip to Toronto and Canada's Wonderland theme park in May next year. Any of you guys got any tips on getting the best outta the area like best places to go and see in Toronto?

Steve

Well, you have to see Niagara Falls! It is definitely worth the trip. Toronto has a pretty active theatre district too; not sure what will be playing next May, though. I haven't been there for a few years as a 'tourist' but there is plenty of nightlife, if that's what you are looking for.
Oh, and I would skip Marineland (near Niagara Falls) - I went and there wasn't one Marine there... lol

Niagara

Ok thanks Niagara is on my list to do, only got 6 days and two will be at Wonderland. Nightlife is out really as i'm with a 17yr old boy so have to stick to things suitable for him though i'm sure he wud like to go clubbing his mother wud kill me lol

Check the City of Toronto's web site for any festivals or street fairs that may be running while you are there - you may find some really cool free events too!

I don't know what kind of interests you have but there is also the Toronto Zoo, the Toronto islands (nice beaches, theme park, shops, yacht club, and gives you a great view of Toronto while taking the short ferry ride to the islands), CN Tower, Science Centre. If you do go to Niagara Falls then you should also visit Niagara on the Lake. There are also numerous wineries to tour if that interests you.

Thanks Gary sounds good. I like the sounds of the Islands too. CNtower also a must. Looking forward to it. Subway system looks good should be able to get about easily. I know there were buses to Wonderland at weekends from Yorkville but we are going midweek so need to look into that or get a car.

N Falls- Don't miss Cave Of The Winds (link below)! It's well worth it, as long as you don't mind getting wet. Talk about an adrenaline rush!! Funny- I lived about 20 mintues from the falls for 20+ years and maybe went there 2-3 times. I've been there more (and done more there) since moving to Mass!

Near Toronto there's Casa Loma- might be VERY interesting to a 17yr old boy. I know it was for me when I was about that age.

Above all, have a great time, and don't miss out on the "vacation" aspect by trying to fit too much in!

Chuck

Yeah thanks Chuck. I like the look of casa Loma we will sure go there. We r booked into the Grand Hotel on Jarvis street. Can't wait to try out that rooftop jacuzzi. The views look amazing!

Toronto is a blast. I have not been in 10 years but I want to go back there. The CN Tower has whats called the Glass Floor. Its the most unreal thing to experience...when I stood on the floor and looked down it gives a feeling of floating in mid air..and then you can go into the Space Pod and thats a trip. If you go at night the city is at your feet...awesome lights. Then there is the shopping. Eaton Centre downtown is nice and its connected to the Dundas Mall and the Bay. In the underground City its called the PATH system. It also connects to the TTC subway. The subway in Toronto is every clean...you can eat off the floors its that clean. It can take you anywhere. The Church Street area is the Gayborhood and they have some trendy shops...but the shopping in Toronto is awesome...but make sure you bring money because it aint cheap. There are good places to eat in Toronto as well...I used to go to the Marche and there are a few other places that were good but I dont know if they are there still.
Canada's Wonderland has a Star Trek theme with Klingons and Romulans walking around. Its alot of fun and lots of rollercoasters. I went on one called The Bat where it pulls you up and all the change falls out of the pockets of my pants then it drops ya back thru and into a loop. I wanted to die. Then there is one rollercoaster where your in a car suspended by an overhead rail...thats fun. Toronto does have a website for tourists...check it out. And you have to see Niagara..the Journey Behind the Falls is awesome and at night the falls are lit up.
Beware of the Skylon Tower...very pricey restaurant...we paid 70 CSD for cold cuts and that was per person. And it wasnt the revolving restaurant either...what a rip.

Toronto is faboo

I enjoyed the beaches on the islands, but the water was freezading, and that was in July! If I remember, the taxis are black-and-white and the police cars are yellow, weird. Very clean, friendly city, easy to get around. I only found it annoying that the bars close at 8pm on Sundays. The CN Tower was an experience but when I looked thru that glass floor=instant vertigo! On the lake was a WWII Canadian ship that you could tour, not for the claustrophobic.

Well when I was a kid I always thought the Ontario Science Centre was great. We'd usually get drug off to the ROM, Royal Ontario Museum as well by my mom. Canada's Wonderland didn't exist back then LOL
Mostly though my folks would just ditch me or more like I'd ditch them and I'd poke around on my own while they went shopping and we'd meet somehwere later in the day.

Jon would probably have a better idea, he's more that age and lives somewhere in the suburbs.
