I signed up for Tovala today.

They make a counter-top combi-steam oven that also comes with a meal plan that is prepped but still raw. I figured I'd give it a whirl to see how it all works.

You basically remove the packaging, scan the code and the oven takes over.

A while ago I decided to give blue apron a try. I thought the idea was really cool but I hit a wall majorly with it. I went through a really horrible bought of depression. I had food showing up every week, $580 worth, and I ended up throwing it all away. I just couldn't bring my self out of my slump enough to cook.

I am gaining weight like crazy because all I've been doing is eating fast food. My thought on this tovala idea is that I love gadgets, I love food and I don't want to do prep work right now just for my self.

Anyways if anyone wants to take a look at it, the oven is $299 with no commitment to a food plan but they will give you your first box free.

If you use my link, you'll save $30.

I hope that you will be able to find help with your depression and that the new meal plan will provide you with good nutrition. One other thing you should look into is supplemental vitamin D as far north as you live. 5,000 International Units a day is what I take and I notice the difference. Vitamin D is almost a vital hormone that our bodies can make with enough exposure to sun, but living at northern latitudes and working inside out of the sun compromises our ability to produce adequate amounts of the vitamin in our skin through exposure to proper sunlight. Remember from our childhoods that Vitamin D was called the sunshine vitamin and was touted for its role in calcium utilization for bones and teeth? Well, scientists have found it does a lot more and is even pivotal in mood regulation and weight control, even our ability to have orgasms. Vitamin E is important, but Vitamin D is even more important. If you get tested, your blood level minimum should be 30, but doctors who know more than what they learned in medical school years ago recommend a level closer to 40 or 45. A friend who uses the Mayo Clinic for her health care was told that there. As we age, it is harder for our bodies to synthesize vitamin D from the sun and even to absorb supplemental vitamin D so being aware, not letting uninformed medical personnel say you are OK when you are not and taking an active role in managing your health care are vital to staying well. Best wishes in your health quest.

The meal kits look interesting, but are probably not for me. I actually enjoy grocery shopping and would miss that. Let us know what you think of Tovala. I shop at a HyVee grocery store and even they have their own kit meals, now. May try one just to see what's in it and how it tastes. Also, get some help with your depression issue. A combination of talk therapy and the right meds can work wonders.
