Hi guys, I am visiting Ralf in Germany next month and taking him a Hotpoint Countess.
It will need to be laid on its side in the back of the car for about 36 hours.
Any tips on what I might do to stop it leaking oil? I have been told that this is a big problem with wringer washers if not kept upright.
Any help , much appreciated.
Thanks
Lance

Hi Lance...
Hope you are well.
Regarding the transporting, well i think i have lost count of how many Countess's / Empress's & Princess's i have picked up and always use to make the fatal mistake of laying them on the wrong side, and ended up having the oil vapours in the car for months!!
I would try and block the "breather" hole on the gear box near where the wringer drive coupling is and lay the machine on its front, heavily protect the controls. There are no exits from the gearbox at the front.
Hope this helps
Keith

Hi Keith

Thanks very much for that.
I didn't even know there was a breather hole so that's great to know, I shall do exactly as you said.
Hope all is well with you
Cheers
Lance
