Hey guys!

Just wanted to check in with you folks. Tony and I are in the middle of the long, long trek to Oregon. We drove last night and all day today. We are in Mt. Vernon, IL tonight for a much-needed rest before we start up again tomorrow morning.

Yesterday was rather emotional for both of us. My unit held a going-away thing for us at work. They even awarded Tony with a commander's coin if you can believe it! How progressive!!!

Afterwards we finished loading up the trailer and the kitties and hit the road. Lots of mountains in West VA. GEEZ!!! It's been a beautiful ride the whole way though. A beautiful sunset in southern Illinois tonight.

Well, hope everyone's doing well tonight. I'll be updating as we make it closer.

Hugs...

Jon and Tony

Hi Jon and Tony. I hope you both have a safe and pleasant trip to your new home. My best wishes to you both as you begin a new chapter in Oregon. Perhaps you will visit us again in Tucson some day.

Ross

Hey Jon and Tony, Glad that you are on your way and that so far it has been a good trip. It is never easy to leave a place we have lived for a time but I know there are many many good times ahead for you both. Please keep us posted on your progress. Terry

Doggoneit!

Ya'll were so close and now you're so far. Lost another one. Drat. Be very careful on your drive as there are lots of nuts out there. Let us know when you get there. Hugs, Mark

I have such great memories of Portland back in the day, that would have been mid 1970's. Fun parties, great dates, the probably how long gone OI bar and Doll and Pennys, getting old is crap.

Hey Girls!!!

I didn't even get the computer out last night but we ended up staying in some little hotel in Kansas. Today we made it about 650 miles are now at a really nice Holiday Inn in Rock Springs, Wyoming. We have to hit it hard one more time tomorrow so we can at least make it to Oregon. Tuesday will be the "home stretch"! It's hard to believe we've made it over 2,100 miles! Whew!!!

Frontload,

Remember? I already have the avocado 3-speed washer and it's matching Versatronic dryer! That's why I want to get to my house in Portland so bad. I had to settle with doing laundry in the hotel tonight. Commercial Speed Queens with a horrible lidswitch so I can't see anything. GRRR!!!

Thanks for thinking of us!

Mark, I do hate to live you my friend. I sure do hope you make time and jump on a flight out to see us sometime. It's nothing fancy but would be a lot of fun. That goes for anyone for that matter.

Will update you all tomorrow hopefully!

Jon

Jon, I know ya'll are enjoying the scenery and wonder if you are stopping to do any tourist type stuff----check out local eateries, visit national monuments, etc?

Will be glad to hear you made it to your new place safely, so ya'll can begin stuffing it full of all those vintage treasures constantly showing up in your area!
You know you have to have 'em!

Oregon FINALLY!

Ok,

We finally made it out of Wyoming, through Utah, and Idaho. We crossed the Oregon border this evening and are sleeping in Ontario tonight. Looks like only 6 more hours of driving and we'll be pulling up to the house. And it only took 5 days!

We've been doing just fine. No accidents except for one little hickup yesterday when Tiger made a dookie in the pet carrier. Yuck! All's well though.

Thanks for checkin up on us. No touristy stuff by the way. All drive and no play. I have to fly back to DC on Thursday for a whole night thanks to the Army. Therefore we had to push it to make it here in time.

Patrick, We'll be getting to the house around 1 PM tomorrow. You should swing by in the evening if you are up for it. You can meet the kitties!

Jon
