I am having probs with my Bunn Coffee Maker. don't ask me the model number, but I think it's like G10 in white. Anyway the uper tank has sprung a leak right where it drains into the main tank with the heater. It appears that from age and constant heating the plastic upper just came from togetherness.

My question, I looked on the BUNN website, but didn't find replacement parts for this machine. Does anyone know if you can order just the upper tank? The coffee maker is only 17 years old, I am positive it has a few more years left in it if I can just find the part.

Call BUNN directly - they may have the part, just not in great quantities. They're great to deal with.

I had two that did this same thing.....

There is a washer that is in between the filling space at the top & the actual heating tank. (Where the filling container connects to the heating tank) This washer goes bad. DON'T USE YOUR BUNN!
When you take it apart you will see why. The water is running along everything that is live as far as electricity is concerned!
It is an easy fix if you can take things apart and put them back together. You can just take the washer off and get one at the local hardware store.
Call Bunn. They had a huge recall a few years ago for this exact thing. If I remember correct they were not offering replacement parts, but discounts to buy another Bunn and trash your old one.
It is a very scary safety issue.

If I remember correct the recall was insulting. They whole goal was to get you into a new Bunn and trash the old. The "rebate" was an insult for such a serious issue.

Video of one that caught fire.....

Luckily they were near by and unplugged it.

Thank you everyone for your information.

The gasket has been replaced several times over the years, now it's the plastic tank itself that has just crumbled where the hole emptying into the hot water tank is larger than the washer that should be sealing it.

I don't really want to trash the Bunn, but if I do have to I will more than likely not replace it with another.

Bunn

The same thing happened to our 20 year old Bunn 4 years ago. All Bunns now made have the stainless steel tanks just like the commerical ones. This is our daily driver but on weekends use our corning electric perk or a vacuum pot.

Iheartmaytag, my parents have had several Bunn coffee pots over the years and they've encountered the same issue as you. The washer fix mentioned above only works for so long and then the plastic upper reservoir disintegrates. Once they reach this point they're garbage. Bunn may supply you with a new upper reservoir if you ask.

I'm glad to hear you got so many years of use out of your coffee pot! Some people may think Bunn-O-Matics are overpriced and overrated, but I challenge anyone to prove that their modern Chinese-made Mr. Coffee, Proctor-Silex, Cuisinart, etc. will last longer than an American-made Bunn. And the company's customer service is outstanding!

Norelco 12

Yep, my parents have a Norelco 12 from 1974. It needs a new cord but they also have a same-vintage Dial-a-Brew that they picked up at a yard sale back in the '90's that works great. I think they also have an NOS glass carafe for these somewhere in the attic.

Tim and Andrew, that comment wasn't in reference to the durability and reliability of vintage coffee pots, just the new ones. I have a 1984 Hamilton Beach/Scovill 12-cup under-the-cabinet model still new in the box from Goodwill. I unpacked and tested it a while back. It is well built, works great, and makes HOT coffee! It'll probably replace my Bunn when it dies just because I like vintage small kitchen appliances :-).
