There was SO MUCH detergent, I don't know what was what!

I know the hosts will be able to answer, I'm still on sensory overload from all the washing and Roger's beautiful vacuums!
 
Wow! You guys look like you are having a great time. I really like the Hoover twin tub with the auto rinse feature. That was very big for the Hoover Company when they introduced the one piece molded plastic tubs. Those were done right up the street from me! Beautiful old vacs too. I really liked the amount of old Hoover cleaners that I see. Thanks Jeff for posting the pictures. I for one don't care about any surprise...the pictures speak for themselves!

Home safe and sound

We're home now after another day at the mercy of American Airlines. Today's drama was getting to the airport in Tucson and learning I had a seat, but Michael had been cancelled!
In any case, the snafu was quickly fixed, and we had a nice, if a bit bumpy, non-stop flight home.
It was an awesome weekend! So many friends, new and old, gathered in one place to celebrate this amazing hobby.

To Ross, Roger and Nate:
You guys are amazing, thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all you three did this weekend! From the open homes to the wonderful machines to the great food to the warm welcomes, you three are amazing hosts!
Roger I am serious when I say too that I have never seen so many absolutely pristine Convertibles too!
Michael said he would put his own post up later, so I will let him speak for himself, however I know I am safe in saying he had as much fun as I did!
It was a fun, exciting, action filled weekend, I am pretty wiped out tonight, but wanted to say thanks to all.
I can't wait for next year!
 
Sitting in PHX

I’m sitting in the airport just exhausted and my flight home to Minnie is right on time with no drama to report, I had absolutely no problem getting down here on Thursday as well, my flight was 10 minutes early. I guess I’m just drama free.

Anyway I just wanted to give Roger, Nate and Ross a big huge thank you! You guys were so nice to organize and have a wash-in for us. Your machines are all beautiful and the company was wonderful! It was so nice to see everyone again and to meet some new friends as well. I will definitely make the trek again another time.

First....Jeff, thank you for inviting me to go with you to this wash in. You are a wonderful man!!! Our travel was NOT pleasant to say the least and yet.....it was still enjoyable because of you!!

To Ross, Roger, Nate......THANK YOU!!!! I know that it is a lot of work opening your home to a group of people and I appreciate ALL that you did to prepare for it.

I met some very interesting people, people that made me laugh my A-- off!!! Rodney you are HYSTERICAL!! It was also nice to see people that I have previously met. Everyone is SO nice.
I also want to thank everyone who excepted me....I am an outsider but I enjoyed myself very much. I learned a lot this weekend. As I don't collect Vaccums or Washer and Dryers myself, I find it very interesting and I can see why you guys do it. After seeing the unimatic and the 1 18....i WANT ONE!!...(insert joke here)....

One last thank you to Terry.....YOU MAKE G R E A T COFFEE!! And it was really nice of you to make sure that everyone was eating and drinking and having a good time. You are the hostess with the mostest!!!

Finally home...

After going through two airports, a bumpy ride on a CRJ200 (the Corolla of airliners, no joke), and one FANTASTIC fun-filled weekend. Ross, Roger, Nate, and Nate & Melissa, I can't thank you all enough for inviting us into your homes and letting us play with your machines. Everything turned out perfectly, and the best part was that after Friday it stayed nice and enjoyable all weekend...the back of my neck shows it too, LOL! It was especially great seeing everyone again, and meeting new faces as well!

Now that most of you who attended found out about the little shipping disaster, I can say that the "surprise" was going to be one of the first Dyson DC21 canisters to hit the US market, serial number 36. I ordered it Wednesday and had it shipped UPS Next Day Air so we could play with it. It made it all the way to Tucson without any trouble, and then on the truck to Roger's house, something apparently fell on it and it was damaged. Greeeaaaaat, but worse things happen. I was mad, but UPS will be giving me a refund in full, and I'll just get another one. At least it was damaged and no one took it. That would have been worse. But there were still many fun machines to play with...namely the Hoover Convertible 65 and 67, Model 27, 28, 305, Eureka widetrack ESP self-propelled, Kirby 518, Eureka upright with the "touch-power" grip, and the most interesting of all, the Cordaway "canned ham" canister with the Vibra-Beat nozzle! I had never seen one of those before, so it was very interesting (and ineffective). It made an otherwise quiet machine put out one hell of a racket!

Thanks to Roger, I now have 4 excellent new additions to my vacuum collection. A Hoover model 634 (rare promotional version of the 63 in turquoise), 334 (the first lightweight commercial Convertible), 62 (unlike others, this one has chrome lettering on the hood), and a dual-voltage UK Powerplus. I also grabbed an older two-tone Quadraflex Powermatic nozzle, for experimentation with otherwise straight-suction machines. Now I just need to get another adapter cord for it!

I will hopefully be posting pictures and giving a more detailed synopsis of the washer-related festivities shortly. Right now I'm beat, and it's back to the daily routine starting tomorrow.

I'm really sorry about your misfortune with your Dyson, but at least You won't be out of nothing and Will be getting a replacement. I will be looking forward for Your pictures for sure.

We've had a nice evening here doing some more laundry and eating at Roger's, Roger, Terry, Greg, Nate, Bob and myself.

It's been a most wonderful weekend and many thanks to our hosts and the great people we saw again or met. I know there are a few others still about that I hope to see before leaving tomorrow night.

It's been a lot of fun!
 
What a time

This weekend I kept thinking of all of you having fun. I didn't check in until now, Monday Morning. And, of course, I see that you all did have a great time!!

Looks like a beautiful place and great washers, dryers, and vacuum cleaners.

And most of all people who can share a weekend together.

Someone made a post earlier about how they were glad to be accepted within the group. In my opinion, that's what Applianceville is all about!!! No one is (or should be in ANY club for that matter; of course I'm using the term "club" very loosely) considered an "outsider", made to feel unwelcome, or looked down upon because they were either new, a significant other of someone attending that hadn't previously met anyone, or didn't yet have a collection. Everyone is treated equally. That's the beauty of cameraderie, and why I enjoy events like these. The machines are fun, but without the great people and the positive energy, it would just be like watching your own machines in your laundry room...pretty dull and boring if you ask me.

In Tucson, everyone talked to (and got along with) each other, not just any particular person or group. There were no "cliques". No one bragged about what machines they had in their collection that most others didn't have. No one argued over which vacuums they wanted from Roger's "to go" stash. No one was so head-over-heels for a particular brand or type of machine that they attacked anyone who disagreed with its design or performance or who didn't really care for the action it had. Speaking of that, not ONE negative comment was made...it was ALL positive the whole time. Last year, this was the best weekend of my life, and I have to say this year was even better. We tinkered with machines, talked for hours, enjoyed delicious meals, and of course washed and washed and washed. MUCH knowledge was shared, and many questions were answered. Like other events, I learned quite a bit of information from this one as well. It was great.

I hope to have the many pictures I took up later today on Imperial, so everyone can see. And I'm now in the process of sorting through the DVDs, and after I watch all of them, I will start on the music video :)

Glad you all had a FAB time, have enjoyed the pics so far, BUT, Names Please!!! dont know all the faces etc...

So what happened on the first day??did the weather turn real nasty for the time of year??

Who`s is the Hoover Twinny, enquiring minds need to know??

And did we have any Sudz Lock or Cakes for our washing efforts??

Skip Skip Skip...tsk tsk tsk...there you go again taking things the wrong way...I merely wanted to comment on the great photos. I am so glad that everyone had such a good time. I was talking to Jeff Parker about the "wash in" and he said how much fun it was. So take that any way you want Skip...last time I checked I do not need you to tell me when to post or how...I DO my own thinking no one does it for me...and I do not know you! I only know you from the nasty emails you sent me. Why dirty up this fine thread? Isn't that what the vca is for? I have read that...

WHAT A GREAT TIME!!

After slogging through the weekend's laundry and cleaning, I've finally found a minute to post!

To Ross, Roger, Terry, Nate, Will, Nate, and Melissa.....

A *HUGE* thank you!! Your hospitality was infinite! You treated all of us like kings (and queens)! From the food, to the conversation, to the collections and appliance action, there was and abundance of everything!!! The only other place I would feel at home would be, well, at home!!

It was fantastic to catch up with old friends, and a hoot to meet some new ones!! I was in hyperdrive the whole time!!

Thank you so much again! You guys are the best!
 
Hi all - just made it back to the "Big O" a while ago. Not a hitch, everything went just perfectly - just like on the way out last Wednesday. I had an earlier flight out of Omaha to Minneapolis so I took the Lightrail downtown and met Don (jetaction) for dinner and then we rode the train back to the airport for the flight down to Tucson. Everyone had a great time even with a little chilly rain, but the weather turned out perfectly and it was so fun seeing everyone and meeting so many new faces. I forgot my camera but the pictures so far have been really great - thanks everyone for posting them!

Just to clear my name I have never sent You any nasty emails at all, I'm not that kind of Guy. You for one have no business saying that on this forum, You are the one airing dirty laundry not me, I have never aired anything here at this site about anything outside of here. Yes I did sent You some emails but never nasty ones. Tom the only thing I asked You and I have asked You nicely that from now on don't make any negative comments about what I say that's all I have asked. I have never brought up the past because I live for the future not the past. So let's make a deal here I don't and won't respond to any of your comments and You do the same for me.
