Many thanks go to Roger, who hosted a fantastic wash-in last night at his house. Ross and I were treated to a tour of Roger's fascinating small-appliance collection (including stunning Hoovers, Kirbys, Royals, a scintillating little Electrolux, a pristine Lewyt, and a gorgeous array of Sunbeam Mixmasters).

We also were able to really appreciate the Maytag experience, complete with Roger's Highlander (one of the most elegant machines I've had the privilege to use, and with the original owner's manual!) and his more-fun-than-should-be-allowed suds-return A608 (which agitates as it fills from the bottom--such a beautiful backwards rendition of a drain that you wonder if--upon peeking outside--you'd see cats walking backwards and birds flying tail-first).

As seems to be the trend these days, we took the 208 for a spin with a turquoise Power Fin mated to the short-stroke orbital transmission. The wider-base agitator in the standard-capacity tub made for unbelievable water drama. After throwing a washcloth in, we were hard-pressed to see where it was, as it darted with ridiculous speed from spot-to-spot in the tub.

To top it off, we had some wonderful conversations amongst the three of us (as we always do), and were also the happy recipients of a call from Scott in Minneapolis! (It was great to chat with him after all the e-mail we'd volleyed around :-) )

All-in-all, a fantastic evening, and thanks again to Roger for hosting it!

Nate it sounds like you guys had a great time. Roger is such a wonderful host. Sure would have loved to have been there too. Roger does have a fantastic collection of vacuums and other small appliances. Looking forward to meeting both you and Ross in the future.

Hey there, my little suds-saver virgin! ;-) So glad to hear the evening was a complete success, though I'd never any doubt that it would be. You can wring, you can save and return suds...you can agitate up and down....you can Easy Spin....Rock ON! ;-)

It was so much fun talking to you last night, can't wait to meet you! I'll drop you a line later. Did anyone take any pictures?

Scott,
See -true my Minnesota roots I had to show Ross and Nate the proper way to use a suds saver washer-lol.
Unfortunately we never got around to taking any pictures.
Roger
