turbine driven vacume assesories

years ago i found a rotary vacume attachment-a scrubber or polisher-that had a
turbine driven by the vacume hose suction to drive the scrub or polish pad through
a reduction gear train...I can imagine these were kinda loud LOL.
anyone have any of these turbine driven vac assesories in your vacume collections?

I happen to have one of these awesome accessories.

Its the green disk in the middle.
Mine is for the Compact/tristar machines. From the mid early 60s. Called the Polish-aire.

It is driven off the blower of the vacuum. A very fun, and really cool sounding device. Not the most effective, but has its own uniqueness. This one just takes off with the Tristar CXL. Which has much more power than the original compact that it would have went to.

Also this one is very dear to me, as it belongs to a childhood vacuum. I found this polisher not to long ago in my grandpas basement, unused.

I have a polish-aire hidden away somewhere with my C4, never used it though. I think the most common air driven vacuum accessory was the non-electric powerhead with a turbine driven brush roller. These were offered in the late '50s when it was evident that a canister vacuum gave greater suction but an upright was better on carpet due to the motor driven brush. A few vac companies were early adopters of the electric powerhead - Lewyt, Whirlpool, and Electrolux come to mind - but some others  offered turbine brushes as factory equipment thus saving them the trouble of making electrified hoses and such. Some turbine powerheads are still available, check eBay.

I have a small turbine brush head I use for getting cat hair off the furniture.
It is very effective.

White cat + dark blue velour chairs = need a turbine brush.

Turbotool Rug Washer

I have at least one; it came with my parents 1205 Electrolux. I love the sound of these Turbotools!

It does a nice job shampooing dirty carpets & scrubbing floors. I use the Rug Washer to scrub the floor, then pick up whe water with a FloorMate.

If you have a powerful vac, I think turbo tools are wonderful. I have two hand held turbo brushes for our Miele. One is black plastic and the other is clear plastic. It's an aftermarket unit.

I used the clear one to vacuum our mattress last weekend. It worked SO much better than just the upholstery tool supplied with the Miele. The inside of the turbo brush looked like it had a fog inside of it from all the dust & debris pulled out of the mattress. Did a great job.

If you ever want a shocker, just use a Rainbow to vacuum a mattress, then look at the water reservoir!

As for floor units, I prefer a motor powered head unit.

Not a polisher and not vintage...

Some Eureka and Electrolux models have the mini rotary brush and it's also wind powered.
It's modern, beautiful and I can even say those are cute... but they work only if the filter is 100% clean and depending on the surface you're going to vac.

The only place i'd, theoretically, use them is on my couch as i have ceramic floors and no stairs... but it would damage the fibers or jam so.... it's useless.

On the other hand, it has a very small rubber attachment that works great.
