You be the judge. Here is a washload that I ran tonight after a wonderful sunday dinner. The dishes in this load accumalted over a 2 day period. The baking dish is what I made our Roasted Short Ribs in. The pan suffered from burned on honey that was in the glaze. It sat for approximately 45 mins before being loaded into the Dishwasher. There was no pretreating of anything. Only scrapping off of the large pieces. Below is a series of photos to show how well this machine cleans. Hope you all enjoy.

One Final look

One last look before it is time to unload the dishwasher. My least favorite part. I have had this dishwasher well over a year now and have been very satissfied with the results. I was extremely aprehensive about buying a TT Whirlpool/Kenmore after all the negative things people had said about them. After having such consistently good results as these I am inclined to say that Whirlpool must have corrected any designs flaws from their earlier TT machines.

Chris, my new one is the black versioon of yours!! I've Zoned twice with steller results that even surprised me. Personally, I found that if I used the organized slits in the utensil baskets, heavy food accumulated on the lid and didn't get dealt with, but it was washed off the eating part of the utensils lol. So I stopped using it that way. I also started only using the one bigger basket of the 3, even a week's worth of eating stuff fits very nicely in the larger bazket and comes clean. That space can now be used in the bottom rack for a mixing bowl, put larger saucepan on its side, ... I also got rid of the basket at the back of the top rack, unless I need it. It eats up too much space and was noticeable in that reduced real estate in the top rack to me. Still have the knife holder on the left side of the bottom rack.

The last two loads I've run I decided to try just the normal cycle instead of smart wash. I don't know if the soil level was so high the sensor triggered the heaviest soil setting on normal wash, but I have gotten a full 1st rinse instead of the purge both times right after the main wash. That's something I never did get on Smart Wash. However the soil was so high in both loads that it did an Automatic Purge Filter (APF) 3 times in the prewash, something that's only happened two other times. Normally just 2 filter purges. It also resulted in the longest cycle run time I've had, 161 minutes. I think of all the WP TT cousins, this is the best-performing of the 3 brands--KitchenAid, Kenmore/Kenmore Elite, and Whirlpool.

Bob, I have to agree

with you about the Kenmore/Kenmore Elites. They are quite good performers. I normally dont use the odds and ends basket up top but it seems that the last few loads I've had a need for it. But normally it is not there as you stated it takes up quite a bit of space. I liked the knife holder in the lower rack too. Though often I wash my good knives by hand so I have little use for it. Tonights load ran from 6:10 to 7:55. That was from the moment I pressed start to the time it shut off after the final rinse. I rarely get an "extra' rinse unless I use Pots&Pans. Then I usually get a nice rinse before it drains and does a final rinse. And this may be just me but, I really love the sound this machine makes as it drains. It is by far the neatest noise of any dishwasher that I've ever heard. I'll have to look out for the food getting caught in the deviders of the silverware basket. I havent had anyhting left behind, yet. lol. There are times that I do take out the two smaller baskets to make room for large bowls and such but thats normally only when I am entertaining. Thanks for the feedback. I am glad to hear that your new machine has impressed you as much as mine has impressed me.

I have the 1st generation TurboZone (w/o the spinners), and it gets everything clean. I just used it last night when my mom made some special cake and it was baked on for a day or two, and I think it got clean (my mom puts the dished away, I load it), as most of it does. I always run Smart Wash. I used normal wash once, but never really paid attention to it when it was washing.

I love it when people test things and post them here! Consumer Reports had good things to say about the Turbo-Zone, too. Looks like it did a great job on your Pyrex baking dish.

Thanks for taking the time to let us see the results.

So you'd do this vs. a Maytag 3 rack?

I've just always been fascinated by the "3 rack" dishwasher that maytag manufactures.. Glad to hear that the Kenmore works though as I bet Maytag's factory will be closed by WP and the TurboZone is all we'll get.

I just hate it when the target keeps moving and not always for
the better.

Maytag actually does make a very good dishwasher. They still use a vertical pump mounted assembly, though the cycles can be a little on the long side and the machines aren't the quietest on the market, but folks I know who have them do like them a great deal. Most think they are very easy to load as you can put stuff anywhere and it will clean well.

Maytag 3 rack vs. Kenmore Elite

I actually had narrowed my choice of a new dishwasher down to three brands: The Kenmore, GE Profile and a Maytag 3 rack. I had at the time a Maytag I bought new in 1999 when I purchased my new house. That Maytag was a workhorse. I never had a moments trouble with it till I replaced it last summer. ( In case you are wondering why I got rid of it, the machine was literally falling apart. The tines were breaking off, the Rinse Aid dispenser would dispense its entire contents in less than a weeks time, it stopped drying, constantly had an odor. So it was time to replace it. )I didn't go with the 3 rack dishwasher because the more I looked at it the more I felt that it was going to be far to difficult to laod. I tend to wash a lot odd shaped bowls and platters and baking dishes. The racking just seemed a bit too busy and cramped. The GE with the SmartDispense detergent dispenser was the other candidate and I had almost made up my mind to buy that unit but when I took my mom to see the two machines I had picked out she said the GE's racks felt "flimsy" compared to the Kenmore's plus like me she loved how the Kenmore looked from the outside. Flimsy racks aside she also preferred the layout of the Kenmore racks over the GE's as she said it seemed to allow you to load it however you wanted. Which I have found to be true. At least with the lower rack. I struggle sometimes with the upper rack. Also, the GE SmartDispense only works with chlorine based detergent and while I have nothing against that, I do not always use that type and so I didnt want to be limited to just that. So, the Kenmore was purchaed and I've been happy with it ever since. It performs wonderfully and is extremely quiet. I could not get over the how quiet it was. If the radio is on in the kitchen or dining room and the dishwasher is on you'll be hard pressed to hear it unless you turn off the radio or all other noises in the house cease. Glad you enjoyed viewing the pictures. Next time I am going to try for BobLoad(r) Certification. hehe.
