Wouldn't the dispenser in the filter and the multi-colored graphics on the dials indicate this is a newer machine? Perhaps it has cosmetic upgrades in it's once a year servicing.

Me want

I so want these but I'm betting it would cost me close to a grand to have them shipped to Connecticut. These are, I believe from around 64, I could tell if I could see whether there was a bleach dispenser or not. Looks like an A702. You're right about the fabric softener dispenser. Why don't these ever come up for sale on the east coast????

Very nice machines indeed! The handle on the dryer door is an older style, but I am little puzzled by the agitator. Also, was there already electronic controls available on Maytag dryers in 1961?

Kelly's right.

It is strange to see the filter/dispenser in the A700 - the A702 had a pre-wash & soak cycle on the dial and the first series to have this filter/disp. It could have been added later as an accessory by the original owner, a leftover in stock, etc. Who knows?

Pretty color though, only a little porcelain rubbed off the wash-basket. The dryer needs a dial insert and a door gasket - probably paint on both, but that's normal at this age.

The child-killer dryer door handle has scratched a trail in the paint on the door. I loved that door handle and think that Maytag should have left that on the door in the upright position when they went to the magnetic latch.

Well at least these went for and started out reasonable. Wow, i think these are even prettier than pink ones. Must be they all get that scratch eventually. The flippin outrageous moola pink ones had it too. The scratch I mean.

Electronic control was being made in 1961. I have seen a couple of A700 washers with the modern dispensers. They may have been retrofitted, but my guess is they were at the end of the model's run.
