Re Rollator...

After Norge about went under due to the 1947 disaster ,when they tried using their so2 Rollator with Freon, resulting in so many of then going bad, they switched sometime in the early 50s to a more mainstream compressor, Im not sure but I believe they used a Copeland, they put a big gold heart on it and called it the Heart of gold compressor!LOL, If you look in the back of the 50s and 60s Norges, you will see the gold decal plastered on the compressor, after they dropped the Rollator, I think Frigidaire and Seeger"Coldspot" had the rotary market to themselves, GE Kelvinator and Westinghouse used more conventional piston compressor, but a Rollator or a Meter Miser each has its own distinctive sound, The Seeger built Coldspots are MUCH Quieter than the other rotaries...almost silent.

What style compressor was the Copeland? Was one style better than the others with respect to reliability?

Those Handles....

....Must have been considered the styling feature that spelled "Norge" to consumers. Below is a still from The Bob Cummings Show (1955-59; retitled Love That Bob for syndication) showing the sitcom's kitchen set. You can see a later model of Norge fridge in the background; the squared styling seems to be from '58 or '59. This still is from an episode titled "Bob Judges a Beauty Pageant," originally aired on December 16th, 1958, but the actual filming date is unknown, so either model year is plausible.

The actors in the shot are, left to right, Bob Cummings, Dwayne Hickman and Rosemary De Camp. Another young actress, not seen in the photo, shot to fame on this show - Ann B. Davis, later known as "Alice" on The Brady Bunch. She was wayyyyy funnier on the Cummings show, playing love-lorn Charmaine Schultz, known as "Schultzy."

Anyway, interesting Norge you found, because you never see them now!
