Well folks,

I guess it was only a matter of time before I acquired a Turq. Kenmore machine, and I've found a beauty. Courtesy of another collector here who thought I'd want it (I wonder why????), a 1963 Kenmore and a 1956 (it appears) suds machine have found their ways to Charlotte.

I LOVE the '63. It's in beautiful condition. It has some spots that I would like to touch-up, but I am sure that Turq. touch-up is not on every appliance store's shelves.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can look to get some? This machine deserves to be even better than it is.

Please let me know, either through here or by e-mail. THANKS in advance for any suggestions!

Gordon

Here's a cell-phone pic of them

I'll get better pictures later. The '63 also needs a filtering light above the control panel. NLA now, if anyone has an idea on one of these, I'd appreciate it. I think this light says "WASH" on it, but it can say "Filtering" like the 63 Lady's does, or nothing at all - I am not picky.

Thanks again

G

Here is what I did on the Turq Frigidaire. I picked up color swatches at ACE Hardware, selected the one that I matched, and had it mixed in a high gloss formula. It seemed to work out just fine. Better yet if you have some way of getting a chip of it off the machine then you can have it custom mixed.

FAB Kenmore!!

Wow, that Kenmore is a beaut!! Congrats!!!
I had some 'custom colour' turquoise touch-up paint mixed up at my local hardware store in Ogden. I took the panel from the 56 GE pull-out dishwasher to them, they scanned it, and then mixed up a batch of appliance enamel for me. I am planning on using this on a certain on-going Frigidaire project of mine...

joel, thanks for that

tip. i was thinkin of doin that for turquoise touch up paint on my machine but didn't know how good a match i could get. gonna bring home paint charts from work (home depot) this week.

you know you can get a small jar of "sample' paint now for about 3 bucks in behr, that would be plenty to touch up most machines i would think.

Wonderful finds Gordon!! Love them both, but I like the 50's machines as my personal favourites. There are 4 1956 Kenmores (that I know of) in the club now. Your new find,my green machine, Dick S. in the Palm Springs area has a white one, and someone down south found a white 56 in great condition awhile back. Hard to understand how they still keep turning up... But I am sure glad they do! Please share more photos with us when you can.

Two Classic Kenmore Washers....

@ Gordon:

Looks like you got you a couple of good ones there. Hopefully, you're keeping both of them????

And if not both of them, you're keeping that 1956 Model, aren't you??? I am sure you're keeping that one.

And about that 1964 Turquoise Kenmore, if you are looking at that light that is above the dial that says "WASH" instead of "FILTER" like it usually says on the 1963 Lady Kenmore Model 800, I think that's the one Uni had briefly before he gave it to someone else, and if memory serves me correct, I think he has doctored that up that light on that machine. You might want to inquire with him a little further about that very issue.

In fact, the 1964 is in the club library (Watch It Work). You might want to keep a look out for that light that's on that machine then.

Classy machines nonetheless.....

Appnut........

If you mean did they come from Robert Seeger..I can tell you right now they did not becasue the Turqouise Kenmore washer he had like that and its matching dryer were sold by Robert a few years ago and if I am not mistaken he said they ended up in Kentucky. I am I right Robert? PAT COFFEY

Nice finds Gordon! Great Turquoise '63 model, and that '56 is a change, as it is dated a little before your preferred time line of collectibles.

Too bad the '64 did not come with a matching dryer. The ones Robert had looked great together.

Have a good one,
James

Gordon i think that filtering light was the same lens sears had as a on light on there chest freezers. Might be worth a try. best of luck alr2903

Lawrence,

You are so much THE MAN!

That's a big "NOPE" on the trailer. The Turq. machine will probably come home, and soon. Not sure about the '56 yet. It it a suds model and apparently the two-way valve has been bypassed, and the mixing valve is full of scale and water hardness. I will be keeping it stored inside until I get the drive to delve into it.

Right now that trailer is totally empty - I've not put anything else in it, but when or if I do it will be backed up against the building wall and will not be accessible to thieves.
