Speaking of KitchenAid mixers...

Late last night while window shopping in one of my favorite ebay categories, collectibles/kitchen&home/kitchenware/small appliances, I came across this vintage ice cream freezer attachment. Advertised as "missing hand crank" ??? for $39.95 + $8.95 shipping (looks very heavy) I decided to buy it. I've seen these sell for well over $100 and most of them really showed their age. This one appears to have seen little use.

Even though I have a K5A mixer I purchased new in the 70's ($2.50 at a warehouse sale at my then department store employer after a fellow buyer took a slightly illegal markdown) I doubt I will ever use this attachment. I already have one of those Simac refrigerated ice cream makers and another one that fits on the Foodmatic. Being a chronic impulse shopper* I couldn't help myself.

*Lilly Tomlin, talking about addictions, once said "I was a impulse shopper, thee worst kind. I would buy anything on the shelf at eye-level. I would even buy fresh bread and day-old bread the same day. I was just not using good sense."

60Qt mixer running from 120V? New one on me-usually those run from 208-230V 3Ph power and have a 5 Hp induction motor. And a mixer like these will probably weigh around 500 pounds!Remember seeing one of these monsters at a Hobart place near Wash DC,years ago.
