Westinghouse had an interesting way of lighting the dial. There was a thick piece of clear plastic that touched the florescent bulb and ran behind the dial. when the florescent light was on light traveled through the plastic illuminating the dial.
I would love to have that dryer. It has memories. The control panel was metal if it was like ours. How did the light get through to it? WH used that thick plastic prism to conduct light to the control dials on some of their ranges.
