Very excited to have two "new" pairs of Frigidaires in my collection. All have been tested and are in working order. The '66 taupe dryer fired right up after getting a new power cord and the washer worked well on the first full cycle test. The poppy red dryer which I acquired a few years ago was reunited with its mate earlier this summer. Thanks to both the members here who made these acquisitions possible. Next up: getting permanent water hook ups for both washers.

Wow, love your vintage Frigidaire laundry

Hi Greg, is the honey beige pair the pair that used to be here in Maryland?

I built a pair of poppy one to 18 machines that are the custom imperial models by changing the cabinets controls, etc. apparently they didn’t have poppy in the top-of-the-line machine, it was more in the middle of the line. Normally

Keep us posted on how they’re performing.

Frigidaire!

My Aunt had the same exact poppy set from 1974 with gas dryer! She had the basement wall painted poppy to match! What a beautiful set. I really enjoyed doing laundry with them! Good Luck with both sets!

John- I purchased the honey beige pair from DJ in upstate NY. Not sure where they were before that. they've had quite a "trip around the horn" from various places from what i understand. It was on a lark that i checked back with him after i thought he had given them away. They had boomeranged back to him after being in the windows of an appliance store so i had the chance to give them a new home in kansas city where they are residing now.

Ben- no vent on the dryer. I don't plan to do a lot of laundry in them so will probably use one of those vent kits that catchs the lint in a water bucket. I"ll get you the model numbers when i'm back there over thanksgiving. I live in NYC- not much room for these beauties in NYC apts.

AppNut- you are right about the buttons. When we first tried to start the dryer after putting the cord on nothing happened so i thought it had bigger problems. Later in the day i went back to try again and much to my surprise it came on when the button popped out after i pushed it. Earlier it stuck in depressed. So happy that it seems to be working. Need to dry a full load to make sure everything still works.

Thanks all for your guidance and comments!

1966 honey beige Frigidaire washer and dryer

Hi Greg, I figured those were the machines that we let go to DJ, a friend of mine had them they had been in a storage unit for a long time and the guy lost the storage unit and my friend Rick went and rescued everything and sold them to DJ.

We found them hauled away from an appliance discounter here in the DC area, they went into storage for many years and they went to Jason. He used them for a while and they went to a guy named Bruce. I don’t know if he ever use them or not , they mostly storage.

I passed on getting them because we had a turquoise pair that’s in a little better shape, but these are beauties.

I think Ben was asking whether it was a no vent or not, it’s just a regular vented dryer, if you’re going to use it with out a vent install something like a pillowcase cover at the end of short section event hose to collect the lint the water bucket doesn’t do a damn thing and they’re not UL approved or recommended by any appliance manufacturer I do not ever recommend there use it just spews lint everywhere.

Good luck with these wonderful machines let us know how it goes, the buttons sometimes gets sticky on the dryer and the washer. You can carefully spray some high-quality silicone lube around the buttons make sure it’s compatible with plastics.
