Two Speed Wringer Washers

Aside from Whirlpool/Kenmore, how many other wringers had two speeds? I thought they were the only ones until I spotted this today.
I think GE made Viking wringers for Eatons?
I like the control panel.

Eaton's Viking "Sailboat" logo...

Always loved that "sailboat" logo on Viking wringer washers (perhaps it was on other appliances too.) Our neighbors had this exact machine, in the late 1960s.

Universal

Universal wringer washers had two speeds back in the 50's. I think they were the first.

It was always a pleasant surprise to me when a member here would find for sale a Conventional or Wringer washer with two speeds and post the listing. A few have also turned up in Ephemera. The difficulty in our not having heard of them is that few people bought Top of the Line Wringer Washers. So they were kind off our radar.

So far, I've seen two speeds offered by Easy, GE, Hotpoint, Blackstone, Westinghouse, Philco, and others that won't come to mind. It may be safe to say that any company making wringers into the 60's probably made a TOL two-speed machine if only to keep up with the competition.

I would not have thought this a few years ago, because every new discovery of another two speed was a shock. Maytag never made a two-speed Wringer, and since we've found more of them--Maytags-- around than anything else, most people must not have considered a two speed machine that attractive an option.

Just as I searched the library for a pic of the relevant Visimatic, I realized that a two-speed Norge and Speed Queen have not been seen either as far as I know. Being mistaken is of course an obvious and very possible option.

What's the "over load protector" button for?

Actually Stan, I haven't managed to do that yet--overload the Visimatic. The booklet says if the motor gets too strained from an overloaded tub--or from a wringer left jammed for too long, I suppose-- the button will pop, shutting down the whole shebang, kind of like the reset button on the Frigidaires.

Please don't tempt me, but boy, do I want to see that button pop so I can enjoy the fun of pressing it back in.

Funnier than you know. The lesson is already in progress. I'm here messing around with a relocated 220 line, and wearing a tin foil hat and rubber gloves, hoping not to get juiced!!!
