Going by the Which report which references them also being sold as Duomatic I am presuming they are similar in concept but more directly related the the earlier Dutch design. If you refer back to the extensive twin tub thread a while back it emerged that there were two designs, superficially similar but rather different under the hood. Duomatic was a much smaller company than Rolls and may well have sourced their machines from Holland. They also sold a couple of low priced autos

First of all, the Hoover twinnie ...

Concorde Model 172 from Great Britain to Canada
The only piece that is missing is the wash setting knob (?)
Will try my luck at finding a suitable replacement at the
nearby flea markets, antiques, garage sales, etc.
(unless someone on AW has a spare, that would fit, to get rid of...)

beautiful black and gold color finishes
with gold lettering (is that really en or ?)
Anyhow i knew that machine was pure gold ...
alas the photo doesn't do justice to the stark beauty of that design

Wow you did strike gold in more ways than one UncleJohn, what a beauty , in great condition , with 2 motors that look in good nic .
And have never seen the neat extras on the back with cord compartment and waste drain outlet that you clamp a drain hose on to.
Now for the check over and water testing then the fun part , using it. Enjoy your treasure trove find.

I have one of those control panels, it came in a box of bits years ago.
Word of warning, be careful when you lean or tip the machine over, the rubber suspension mounts on the spinner are very flimsy & weak and due to the age would break very easy, they are replaceable but a bit of a bugger to get to !! I’ve had several break over the years. Good luck & have fun !!

Hi John.
Congrats on the new acquisitions, particularly on the Tallent Concorde. As Mike mentions above, it does look to be in good condition. Hope you are able to power it up soon.
Tallent Engineering is the company that either a) acquired the rights to the Rolls design twin tubs and continued building them for a while or b) bought up the stock of components and unsold machine and continued to sell them until the stocks ran out.
As to which it is, I don't know, but your machine is definitely a Rolls Concorde although I have noticed something a bit different about your machine when compared to every UK based Concorde that I have ever seen - your machine has 2 buttons, whilst every UK based machine that I have seen an image of has 3 buttons.
Not an expert on these machines at all, so is anyone able to confirm what these buttons do and what the third button on UK machines is for?
I have attached two images of a spreadsheet (yes another one!) that I have been working for the last couple of years, showing details of Rolls and Tallent machines with the years based on when they were being advertised in the press.
Somewhere along the way I have seen described the existence of a 'Concorde' and a 'Concorde De Luxe' and presumed that all the regular UK based 3 button machines were the standard models and that there is some fabled de luxe model that I have yet to find an image of.
Could it be though that the 3 button machines were/are the deluxe version, whilst the 2 button model that you have found John is the standard? Would be interested to know peoples thoughts.
Re the Tallent image, there were apparently three models offered in the UK - W151, W152 and w153, the latter with rectangular lids - presumably our W153 will be the 'de luxe' version of your W172.

p.s attached a photo of the UK 3 button Rolls Concorde - ours had round lids - and also some images for the TallenTwin, which was previously the Rolls Rapide.
Another question - does anyone know if the TallenTwin is a W151 or a W152?

Indeed, Mike, never saw one drain hose setup like that before. Of all the t.t. i've found this one's definitely the most fascinating. First time i see one here at home so i figure that must be kinda rather scarce.
Thank you for the advice, Keith; i will take care! Yep, the (door-less) cable tidy reminds a bit one of the earliest Hoovermatic designs a la 3374, 3334, etc. If ever you happen to depart the NOS control panel, please remind that i would be certainly interested and could offer some good amount of money for it! Btw, the Rolls spinner diagram is very revealing as to the mechanical concept behind those machines.
A big "merci" to you as well, Paul, for the informations. Tried to power it up and, as far as things go, the spinner runs fast and smoothly; the wash disc seems a bit difficult to turn by hand, even the pulley down below is somehow quite a bit hard to rotate manually. My guess as for the front located push buttons is that the third one on the UK machines could be for some sort of heater down the wash tub, whilst in North America i know of no twin tub provided with heat option in mind.
I see that the small plastic-made lid handle and metal hinge of this handsome Rolls Concorde in your picture are completely identical to what's on my machine. Cool! : )
