Typical Load In My Whirlpool Power-Clean DW

I have two identical WP DWs like this in my kitchen and one or the other is run every day or so, or about 5 loads per week that are almost always this dirty, and in almost 30 years of use I have almost never disappointed with the results.

 

I am going to apply for Bob Load status.

 

In coming water temperature approx 130 F, average water hardness around 7 gains [ I don not have a water softener ]

 

I usually do not run the hot water first as I often use delay wash start and the DWs are 75 and 100 feet from the water heater in my home.

 

I always use Hi-Temp Wash that heats the main wash and last rinse, and always use air-dry and the dishes are always nice and dry even if the DWs door is left closed all day or over night after being run.

I have the Ken Whirl Power Module Standard Tub and 13 years later still cleaning beautifully. Rarely a "do over".

Looks pretty Bob'd Out to me. : )

always impressive from one of these, never a doubt of what it can clean....

I always say they should go with current dishwashers, as they did with these, and do the 'chocolate cake' challenge.....you know its powerful if it can eliminate all traces of it.....

I think I did this about 4 times, and each time, the cake was gone!...but would you want it for free if it wasn't?

I have the UltraWash version, bought new in 1988, and a spare, should this one ever give out, but doesn't look like it any time soon

John LeFever did a similar challenge once....

ketchup bottle......must be left to dry out the leftovers on the inside for a few days...then flip over to see the results after a cycle....

Williams637 had a great idea of washing one half of the dishwasher with dirty dishes, and the other half with clean ones......to see if the dirty ones get clean, and if any trace food particles were re-deposited on the clean dishes....

one thing you have to factor in.....John and Mark's machines didn't take 2+ hours to run a cycle!

I'm always impressed with the results from the Power Clean machines. It's advanced filtering system works very well. Mine does not have the tuning weight on it to reduce noise, but I prefer it not to. Love that sound.

These are very, very good machines.

Whirlpool dishwashers were powerful machines even before the power clean module machines. I believe my modified 18s hold a larger load than the WPs mainly due to rack design, but for apocalyptic cleaning, it is the WP machine because, as John said previously, KA dishwashers do not have a mechanism to guarantee high wash water temperature. I run heavily soiled loads in my KM Ultra Wash on water miser with hi-temp washing which adds about 12 minutes to the main wash. When the water drains from the main wash, it is 155F. There is so much heat in the machine that the final rinse does not have to heat the water.

I load my Whirlpool DW full just like that but rinse everything off first because my well water is so bad. I mix Iron out with the cheap Walmart soap and I still have to run another iron out cycle every so often to get rid of the stains inside the DW. Joys of very crappy well water, even with a softener that eats salt like crazy and still stains your toilet after every flush.

Iron-out and detergent,

Iron-out and detergent should not be used at the same time. Iron-out is an acid, and detergent is base, they will neutralize each other and be ineffective. They should be used at different times.

Excellent dishwashers. I still have my portable version of this dishwasher 27 years now. I never run heated dry and use normal on most loads and have never been disappointed by the results. These machines clean on normal what many other machines would need heavy cycle for.
