UK Condenser Driers: Need some advice

The time has come to retire our wee tumble drier and it would make more sense to have a condenser drier since we have no place to vent the thing haha. Were looking for a full size one and have officialy £200 but i'll chuck in an extra £100 which i have been hiding...

I'm swaying towards the Zanussi/Elextrolux (or any of the others...) because i have used one a few times and it seems good!

I heard hotpoint/ Merloni ones tend to not condense very well and a Whirlpool i had was just plain nasty!

Every time- nothing from Merloni can come close!

The basic Zanussi condenser should be around £200-If you can stretch to that extra £100 this should be around for about £300- a real bargain!(its being replaced shortly)- I have one waiting to be delivered

We have a Merloni-Hotpoint Condensor and it is pretty rubbish - the thermostats fail at least once a year, the machine is nominally damp-sensing, but tends to stop when the load is still damp even on the cupboard-dry setting. It sometimes gets confused and forgets to the switch the heater on too...

My sister replaced her cheapo ten year old and VERY heavily used White Knight condensor for a TOL and expensive Bosch condensor. She is really disappointed with the Bosch - again the damp-sensing is pretty rubbish, stopping with damp-loads on the extra dry setting. According to her, the White Knight was far better (and was about a third the price) - she certainly got her money's worth out of it - I don't think I've ever seen a dryer that worked so hard!

Perhaps big money isn't the way to go...

We have a siemens condensor dryer and i love it, very quiet for a condensor and it stops at the right time when drying clothes, towels, anything really. Have had no problems at all. Think its retailing at around 400 depending where you go.
I have to say though my mum has a white knight dryer, it is vented but that thing is still going after 11yrs and was only a cheap thing. I dont think the condensors on the white knights condense very well though.
Having a hotpoint condensor before i was amazed at how much water the siemens collected compared to the hotpoint, just shows how steam it released, luckily our kitchen is well vented so didnt have any problems with mould.

Sorry for the late reply guys! Not really been around!

Well, my partner and I decided on the Zanussi TCE 7227 W since he was lured by the 'B' energy rating rather than the 'C' on the model below it!

Should hopefully get it soon. order it next Thursday.

Were getting it for about £230 which i'm pretty chuffed at.

And of course its also 7kg against 6(ok the drum is the same size!) and had auto sensor

That is true, since i've never owned a drier with sensors it'll be exciting times! The 7 KG drum size (I obviously never said it was the same size!) wasn't really an issue since the machine we have is only 5kg, but i guess the more room the clothes have then the least creased it will be!

Seamus, do you know what the Baby Dry program is for? I was thinking if it was a delicate prog then i can dry some shirts that can't normally be dried...

Baby Dry...

According to my instruction manual its a gentle programme to dry jumpers ready to wear- its inital time is 2hr 30min so I would say its VERY gentle!
