UK Gas Dryers

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I thought so,

but didn't want to say anything without confirmation. In fact, I think I asked this very same question back in 2005 or 2006.

It's not a widespread application, it would seem. From the British Gas adverts I've seen on YouTube, particularly the "Wonderfuel Gas" one with Madeline Bell singing, the main UK applications are space heating, cooking("simmering the pot," and water heating.

In my part of the States, gas heated dryers are far less expensive to run than an electrically heated dryer, and locally sell about 2:1.

When I asked my landlord if he would install connections for my washer and dryer, he said that he would, if my dryer was gas, because he could do it himself, but would have to get an electrician if my dryer was all-electric. From the way he said it, it seemed that he would have been extremely reluctant if my dryer was all-electric. (I still had to bribe him $100.)

I have never had fabric yellowing from a gas dryer, or any other fabric damage. However, I have always had dryers with more than one temperature setting.

No Electric Sensor?

What's with these dryers, they have no electronic sensor drying? Timed drying usually overdoes the job, and wastes electric and gas! Reverse-tumble is great-so rare here in the US, and only a couple of unreliable brands have it! I want my next dryer with it-every time I go to a store, I complain of the high prices, yet no reverse. Nobody seems to "get it".
