UK & Ireland Ownbrand / "Private Label" detergents etc

I was just wondering what people thnk of own brand detergents available in the UK and Ireland.

E.g. Tesco's range of Bio, Colour Care, Liquitabs etc
M&S seem to have a fairly good range

Who makes them ?

I think the Tesco stuff is made by McBride, the people who make SurCare. It's a pretty old detergent maker. Has been around for over 100 years and seems to have been part of BP (the oil company) for a part of its existance.

Are they any good?
Which ones are good / which ones are bad?

I've tried tesco colour liquid recently and it seems to be a very good detergent. Quite foamy, but rinses out nicely too.

P&G and Unilever stuff can be ridicuously over priced for what it is.

Me and My family used tesco biological/2in1 powder for a few years and found it to produce outstanding results, brilliant shirt collars and the soles of socks were always white.

My sister who lives on a ratehr tight budget uses the Tesco 2in1 powders, both summer fresh and the new lavendar fragrance. Both give good results, and leave a pleasant fragrance on the laundry.

I love the Asda/Tesco own brand softeners, I feel they are better than comfort or lenor. they smell nicer, and the smell lasts longer, they soften just aswell as the branded conditioners.

I'm currently using Wilko brand softener from Wilkinsons obviously LOL they smell lovely and soften really well. However I do think once I've used them up I will be going back to Asda/Tesco softener's.

Also I'm going through a rather long brand name detergent phase, so I'm currently only using brand name detergents but will be buying some tesco powder soon.

What does everyone else think of store brands ??
