Im looking for Powders that will help my FL's last/stay fresh.....Formil recently changed their packaging so I don't know if it has changed the formula people liked?

Is the new (ish) concentrated Persil range any good?

Not bothered about price/Brand - just something that you have tried and know works!

Kind regards.

I’m like in the same boat thinking about choosing a biological bleach containing powder that actually properly cleans and removes even tough stains and whitens well first time without pretreating or pre washing or having to rewash and that also rinses out fairly easily.

I also am thinking of the same with colour powder and colour liquid. I did a small white towel load on cottons 90*C with pre wash and aqua plus the machine chopping down the cycle time using sainsburys bio powder about 70ml for both pre wash and main wash and the wash level touched the door glass and end result was that the tea towels stains were faded but still present so I think and am now evaluating that it was that considering the wash level I did not use enough detergent or that I need a new detergent choice or that the main wash level was high that the detergent concentration was diluted the wash solution needed more detergent or a lower level for this amount of detergent, I think it was probably due to the wash level. I need to try out a stained towel load with almat bio powder. Sorry if I came across as hijacking the thread.

For what it's worth, this year Mumsnet voted Ariel Original washing powder the best one of all time. :) And the GHI (Good Housekeeping Institute) say "powdered laundry detergent is almost always the best at removing stains".

I 'make' my own washing powder - one third Formil (I'm working my way through a huge box I bought ages ago - I'm unaware of any formula changes), one third sodium carbonate and one third borax. It cleans brilliantly, softens the water and saves me a fortune (only a very small scoop is needed). However, I never pour this straight into the machine - I pour into a jar, add hot water and shake, then pour the foamy result into the machine (this avoids those white marks and deposits that powder sometimes leaves). I never use fabric conditioner - if I want a nice smell, I put a few drops of F-JAS Water-Soluble Fragrance Oil into the conditioner drawer.

My 30-year old Hoover Logic seems to be quite happy with this arrangement...:D

Lidl's 'Formil' powder has changed - it is now manufactured by Persan. Persan is a Spanish company, with factories in Poland and France.

Either Persil or Ariel. Both are great performers. I personally prefer Persil and find it rinses out better, and the scent isn’t as strong, but I honestly ain’t fault either really.

My standard go to detergents are Persil bio powder for whites and lights and Persil bio liquid for darks. Washes and rinses well every time.
