I have been wanting one of these for a long time so I was delighted when this one surfaced .Its in a bit of a state but I think its salvageable. Its rollers are toast and I just know new ones will be impossible to find .The agitator is stuck on the shaft so I have soaked it with WD and will leave it overnight to soak [the knob on top is loose but the agi is stuck .The machine was found in a very remote derelict farmhouse [probably been there since new] .The plug has been wired up wrong [live and neutral are reversed] .After correcting the plug I switched on and the motor runs nicely. The control on the front for engaging the agitator is also stuck . If there are any parnall experts out there any help and advice would be most welcome

Stuck agitator now off

After trying everything i could to remove the agitator i was getting no where so looking at YouTube last night i saw someone doing what i am trying to do with the aid if these blow up bags so i ordered some [very reasonably priced ] .they arrived this after noon so i got straight to work .I but a bag under each vane on the agitator amd inflated the bags [the hole in the top was filled with WD40 and left all last night] and absolutely nothing happened and then i remembered someone talking about shocking the thing with heat so i poured a kettle of boiling water over the top of the agitator .I had just about got to the bottom of the kettle when there was an almighty bang as the agitator hit the garage roof .Luckily i have an old carpet in there so when it hit the floor it had a soft landing .However when i looked at it there is a crack .[just when i thought i had got away with it] .I will repair the crack .I also removed the seized pump stripped it and thoroughly cleaned it ready for reassembly .I will make a new gasket from an old innertube .The tub is in nice condition .No chips anywhere.

Today

I managed to free up the control on the front off the machine .This is the one that engages the agitator .It was the actual control [where it passes through the cabinet] that was stuck .I have also removed the castors which allows me to removed the bottom panel giving me access to the motor .I have removed the motor in order to replace all the perished rubber flex .The castors are all seized so i will soak them for a few days in oil .If they dont free up i will fit some new ones

done some work on this over the last few days

the gear box has been cleaned out and filled with new grease .lots of rust removed and the cabinet resprayed .Other kind members here have supplied me with spare rollers so I am now on with the wringer .the chunky metal thing is the gearbox from the wringer. It was stuck solid with old hardened grease .its been cleaned out and stuffed with fresh grease .its all working smoothly now as it should. The perished wiring has been replaced and a switch fitted so the heater can be used without the motor running constantly. The plinth is back on along with the lubricated castors .

Hi Al

Its coming along nicely .I am working on that troublesome emptying pipe that goes on the side .Its very corroded so I have sanded it down and sprayed it .Once I get it back on I can do a water test

Well this machine is finally finished .New rollers courtesy of another member .Everything working .Should be good for another 60 odd years
