UK survey: single men don't change bed sheets

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Absolutely nothing sleeps better than pressed sheets...every 3 or 4 days mine are stripped, laundered and pressed. When I was partnered, he loved to get into a freshly changed bed with crisp pressed linens, so I changed them daily. I kind of miss that, not him...lol

Once a week here unless some extra-cirricular activity requires them being changed sooner.

They get washed in hot w/ Ariel Oxi Azul, 2 tbsp. STPP, ½cup borax, 1 scoop of Biz or ½cup of vintage Blu White,  and a small dose of fabric softener in the rinse cycle.  Then either out on the clothesline (preferred) or in the dryer.

An easy solution to those bed sheets......... got a match?

Okay, but in all seriousness, I am single and there is nothing more comfortable than a bed with fresh cleaned sheets! I usually wash mine once a week, sometimes once every two weeks if I am lazy, and I hope that isn't pushing it...

I wonder if any of those slobs would enjoy sleeping on the freshly laundered and line dried sheets that I put on my bed this afternoon?  Probably not!

Change linens once a week without fail. Wednesdays, my first day off from work, is wash day. Always hang out to dry on the clothesline, rarely use the dryer anymore.

One thing that has always crossed my mind is pillowcases and pillowcase covers. If they go dirty longer than a week, that is an awful lot of oil buildup from a persons face in the pillowcases. Though I can't prove an observation about it, I've always thought that dirty pillowcases aggrevated acne or skin disorders, aside from being just nasty. A person often drools when asleep. Some people have very oily skin or may sweat a lot too. It just feels dirty to me to go longer than 7 days.

LaVerne & Shirley

Right on cue! I always tape them on the one channel I get that still broadcasts them. For fans, you will remember that their obnoxious roomate slob neighbors Lenny & Squiggy would always bust-in unexpected with a loud "Hello!". This episode had them expecting to "get lucky" that evening, asking L&S: "Can we borrow some sheets? Ours are hard". Amazing that got past the censors!

Usually every week, but once in awhile it stretches to 2. But it is just us, no pets, and we generally shower daily, me usually in the eve. Of course, extra-curricular activities do rate fresh sheets, but we have found strategically placed towels can avoid an early change. Mattress pads, every month or 2. Blankets, comforters, etc. get washed once a season.

Though a BIG animal lover, have never had any desire to have them sleep in bed with me. Rolling around in the grass and dirt, not to mention rather active, curious noses and tongues, just make me think: NO THANKS! And I have an image waking to dog or cat arse in my face... NOT a pretty image! LOL

LaVerne & Shirley

That name LaVerne was popular in the 40's & 50's, my mother had a friend with that name. Haven't heard anyone called that in years.

At NC airlines we had two F/A's we called "Laverne & Shirley". One was a gangly blonde and the other was a shorter brunette. They even acted like L&S. The shared an apartment in Chicago and were really close friends. They both eventually quit NC when the Peggy, the shorter brown haired one won the Ohio state lottery. She quit and her longtime boyfriend finally married her (we joked about that at work) and Rhonda the blonde went to Florida to work at a travel agency. I kept up with them via letters to Rhonda until 2001 or so. They were a fun couple to work with. They would keep you laughing the entire flight.

Last Post REMOVED? Well, Now Get This:

Hey, all! Thought I would share:

With the inconsistent weather we've been having, just for it to have gone from a SWELTERING Indian Summer to finally WINTER & w/ REAL SNOW, that I'd had a near-'Change Yo' Sheets, Dave!' (washin' Blanca, and all!) to deciding after neglecting to, (suddenly got no time--and needed even the blankets that are "just friends"--Ha, ha!--to be available) realizing it's OK to go another what's now approaching a MONTH since over-loading my old, '90's Kenmore, doing load-after-load of Heavy Duty Fast Agitation/Fast Spin and setting the Water Level to the max! (And equally taxing the dryer, having it on the Highest Temperature & getting a blasting furnace o' heat--from the timer set at 50 Min. to the Auto Dry routinely run & paused for rotating the materials to eliminate the still-damp areas I would otherwise use the Touch-Up Zone in my timer for otherwise...

My wife is a different story: The mattress pad, in our queen sized bed, has suffered a lot of punches from the routine washing it needed, (since 2007) we've gone from three bed sets, to two, we--or rather SHE--use(s)--since one has a cool floral Victorian design I loath to have on that bed, subject to her laying on it in her dirty work clothes & even wearing her shoes in it, (so that's why I don't want that mangled from excessive laundering)...  Hence she's got the nerve complaining that the bed smells & not monthly, but WEEKLY insisting I drop everything to wash the sheets, pillow cases, and even the blankets for it...

My own mother-in-law even claims that she washes her bedding in her old Amana every week, insisting we do the same...  Uh, sorry Ma! Water & soap is expensive and your antique laundry equipment is doing better on borrowed time than ours... 'Sides, we've gone over-eight-years without bed bugs...
