been trawling Flikr and found the attached piccies.

First an Electra A3E02, derived from the Hoover matchbox 3236H, but with a half load function. My grandma had one of these.

The one pictured was posted last year and was on the Isle of Iona.

another continental challenge.

at a guess a very early right hand drive Philips, before they standardised on left hand drive for twenty years.

Hi Jon

mmmm yes. I don't quite get it either. As far as i am aware there isn't a rule in Scotland requiring you to fill a scrap washing machine with clothes before its final trip. Quite simply - a bit weird!

The electra 11500 is/was a machine the style of which I have always liked. Although its a shame to see one in such terrible condition, you can't deny it makes for an atmospheric picture.

and finally

chronic abuse of a Hotpoint 'Liberatoresque' early 80's machine, plus an electron dryer and an A3110 style Hoover dryer - all in the name of booze.

You will have to excuse the name of the drinking establishment!!!

Philcos: ie OMG WOW!

That washing machine matches the dryer my uncle had. Don't know how old it was but it must have been very early eighties/ late seventies. Was a cracking dryer. It kept going until he died in 2000. Probably still going the now.

Pretty sure the washing machine is my Grans old one. Looks really familiar with the powder drawer being a different colour than the panel.

So yes, the model or one very simialr was sold in the UK. To be exact the washing machine was "Scottish" and the Dryer was from "Notts" haha

This has got to be the most interesting selection of pictures I've seen so far on this website, all these washing machines in different places, looks like a colection for an art exhibition lol!

And that pic of these machines painted orange and bronze, looks very interesting! I wonder if they still work. The bronze suits the Hotpoint very well, it looks great!

If you find any more interesting pics, let me know!
