UNIMAC COMMERCIAL TOP LOAD WASHER-EXTRACTOR

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

A dream come true

I first saw one of these at the Hotel and Restaurant Show at the Javits Center in 1983. The model I saw had two of the old Whirlpool/Sears black straight-fin agitators. This is the kind of machine grand houses would install in the "cottages" for their Laundresses. I would enjoy using one of these as my daily driver.

These UniMac machines were largely target to car washes, but plenty of other commercial or not places found use for them.

Hotels and other accommodations used them for quick laundering of table linen, guests shirts, and so forth.

There were two models; single and twin wash tubs.

One can get same sort of set up today using square tub Maytag wringer washer and a spin drier.

I was going to make a thread about this but I don't need to all thanks for the search tab. I knew UniMac had commercial top loaders like Speed Queen but recently I looked online on their website and saw they don't offer that anymore. But I didn't know this existed and I find it overall very fascinating.

Market for commercial top loading washers of old is decreasing IIRC. OPL, laundromats, multi-family housing and others more and more have moved over to front loading washers.

With above in mind it's not surprising UniMac no longer offers top loaders in their commercial line up.

It does make me wonder if they’re still gonna be producing the 202 as I know that is extremely popular the Car Wash locations as you can have two loads washing while a third one is being rinsed and spun
