Sunday I had a load of towels in my WO-65-2 (1954) Half way through the wash cycle it just died. The motor protector switch did not trip or anything. No burning smell at all. I am assuming it is something electrical but would like to get your thoughts on this problem. Thanks !!!

Suddenly dead, WO 65–2

Hi Bob, yes very likely something electrical most likely causes or a bad overload protector or maybe a bad timer contact. I’ve even seen where a wire just breaks off the motor.

When I got my W O65–2 many years ago the overload protector was open on it.

We had a really good time at your washer event the other week thanks so much again for hosting good seeing everybody.

Hi Bob, if it fills but the motor isn't operating and you don't hear any humming of the motor what so ever then more than likely it is a wire problem. What I would check first is that voltage is coming out of the blue wire of timer and reaching blue wire terminal on the spin solenoid.

If it doesn't even fill than the problem is more likely along the black line. Check the black line for voltage where the plug wire comes in and into the motor protector button switch. From there see if the black wire is taking voltage into the timer.

The wiring in a Unimatic is very simple so it shouldn't be too difficult to see where the break is.
