I have not touched the Unimatic for a couple of weeks.

So, today I decided to figure stuff out.

John(coldspot66) and I were visiting and had this water valve from a early Whirly or Kenmore. It looks pretty similar to the New/Old Valve I got from Modern Parts that leaks. I have not tested it yet to find out why it leaks. However the valve John gave me doesn't leak. So electrically do you Uni Guys think this will work ?

Looks like the same valve that was used on my '53 Westinghouse LB-6. When mine started leaking, I took it apart and tried several times to repair it. They're very simple inside.

I finally replaced mine with a generic modern version. Works fine, and was very inexpensive.

They're all just "on/off" magnetic solenoids, other than physical shape and mounting points, they're the same function and wiring....if that makes sense.

Looks like four wires are required with two per temperature/solenoid.

As long as your (target) machine does have some funky 4th tempertaure setting beyong the uusual hot-warm-cold, any ordinary valve will really do.

oh and the voltage ratings need to be the same (i.e. probably 110-120v).

Don't know what brand I used. I've got a big appliance parts wholesaler about 2 blocks away. I just walked in and said, "Show me some generic water valve assemblies." It's probably the same one that fits all the old Kenpools from the late 60's onward.

Yep - as Robert said it should work fine. Electrically should work hot/warm, however the output flow may differ due to it being set-up originally for a WP.

You'll know when it starts overflowing excessively before the washer starts pulsating. This can be corrected by throttling down the output with a ball valve between the water valve and the fill flume.
