Ed,
What a score!!! The first coffee pot that I had when I moved out on my own was a Coffeematic that I bought used for $3.00 at the Salvation Army. It made delicious coffee and I used it for about 8 yrs, then gave it to my sister who used it for several more yrs. Mine had the ivory colored base. I later found one like yours, but the chrome had worn off the inside and the copper was showing thru, so I didn't use it too much. You will really enjoy this pot! Be careful how you clean the inside, don't use anything abrasive so you can keep the chrome lining intact.
You will never find a new electric perk that will come anywhere near the excellent quality of this Coffeematic. Congratulations on your find!
BTW, I personally love perked coffee, and that's how I make mine daily. I use the old tried and true measurement of one tablespoon of ground coffee per cup, plus one for the pot, ie. if your making 6 cups, use 7 tbls. of coffee. This ratio gives a nice, strong, rich cup of coffee. I just keep a tablespoon from our flatwear in the can.
