Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

I think.

I believe these came as either stand-alone portables or as a component of a Universal range. By the looks of this one, I'd venture a guess that it was once part of a range. I think the range-version was still a portable, it was just stored in the range and rolled out to load and connect to the sink to run. Mr. Dishwashercrazy has one of these interesting machines and can correct me should I be mistaken and elaborate on any of the finer points.

Interesting, but not a machine for me,
Dave

Dave, You are absolutely correct. It would have been part of a Universal Range.

This James looks to be nearly identical to the one that I have, which came from a small southeastern Wisconsin town.

I wonder if the detergent cup is there?

This James dishwasher is seriously overpriced! I think $150 is more in line.

James Video

Here is the video that I made of mine. [This was my first appliance video, and I did not fully know how to use Movie Maker on my laptop, so apologies for the poor quality.]

The fact that it is unused makes the price seem reasonable to me. These used a spring-wound timer that you turned all the way away from the off position, like a LUX minute timer, and then it ticks down through the cycle.

A classmate's family in elementary school had a portable one of these , but sold it in 58 or 59 to make room for a larger range(?!?) but it was a small kitchen.
