49 years ago today (July 29, 1969), the Springfield newspaper published this picture from the front of our store. The photographer thought that we put the tree out onto the sidewalk to get watered during a rainy spell.
Jokes on them. The tree was planted in the ground, and my father had just put a Blackstone washing machine tub around the base of the tree.
