I’ve made no secret in the past that I’m not a fan of the Miele T1 Heatpump dryers, even with extra dry enabled, stuff still can feel that is really damp even after attempting to flash dry. Not to mention how long they now take in the name of efficiency.

I love the first and second generation Miele heatpump dryers, stuff comes out bone dry like a traditional dryer, they only take 60-90 minutes for a full load and they don’t have the annoying Ticking sound that Miele seemed to engineer into the T1 units.

I’ve been running a T8000 and a T8001 at home for the last 2 years and a T8929 at my Mother in laws. These are the pinnacle of heat pump drying, where it was about being the best machine they could possibly be, whilst having a balance between performance and efficiency.

On Marketplace a T8929 recently came up for sale, BNIB, with the usual description of only 5 years old and I know what I’ve got. Ignoring that it’s more like 15 years old, I went ahead and bought it and today it arrived.

Leon came over and we unwrapped it, on the inside, it still has new car smell and its in beautiful condition. My T8001 had been used hard, so it’ll go into storage for future spare parts, but I’m thrilled to have a brand new one that should hopefully get me a good 10-15 years of use. It’s done a small load of the rags used to clean it, but tomorrow it’ll have its first load of wash to dry.

Congratulations new in the box dryer

That is so fun to find something you really like new in the box I've had automobiles in the past and I always said that if I ever found one than excellent or better yet new condition I would jump on it. And of course many of the appliances that I have in Love I would love to find brand new versions of.

Nathan, what kind of money did you have to spend if I dare ask compared to the price of a brand new one today

Great to see everybody. Thanks for the photo. It's been a while since we've seen you guys. Todd and I just got our passports again. Finally I still wanna make another trip to Australia.

Thanks John, I paid $900 for it, it would’ve been almost TOL back then, so the equivalent dryer today is around $4k AUD.

Henrik, the independent fan setup is one of my favorite parts, it has a proper reverse tumble with the fan running the entire cycle, plus the fan moves that much air, if you pop the door open, light items will blow out.

To me it’s one of the last products Miele had where engineering excellence was the goal, without any compromise. Being second generation, it has done away with all the additional foam filters, but to ensure the condenser was protected the main filter mount has a sensor to make sure it’s in place. The dryer won’t run without the filter in there.
