Earlier in the week, I was on a voyage of disappointment at my Target and saw this detergent. It comes in a bottle the same shade as Tide. If you go to the Target site, this detergent does not make an appearance until near the end. I gave it the sniff test and it smells good. Has anyone tried it? Next time it appears in the Sunday sale flyer I might pick up a bottle to try.

I haven't tried this stuff, but for some reason I'm thinking it might have been reported here to have gotten a good review in CONSUMER REPORTS. I can't find that particular thread, at least with the limited search ability I have here. "Upgraded" members, with better search and full archive access, might have better luck.
That said...I'm wondering if Up & Up will be around much longer... I notice Target has been releasing cleaning products under the Smartly name. I've noticed some of those products have gotten bad commentary vs. the older house products, suggesting it's not just a name change. The liquid dish detergent I tried did not impress me, although it worked well enough to get by on. But I doubt I'll ever buy the stuff again.

My local Target has several choices in small 6-10 load bottles priced at $2-$4. Some are listed on the site, but others aren't. Currently, I think have Persil Original, Tide (original, non-HE IIRC), Tide purclean, Mrs. Meyers, Seventh Generation, and Method. Other locations may vary--I know, for sure, that I saw there Up & Up sample mentioned on their site, but it's not anything at my local Target (but is apparently at a nearby Target).
And yes, it's nice chance to try. I was really curious about Persil, but hesitant to buy a big bottle after all the horror stories I heard about strong scent. But the 6 load bottle for $2 was low enough risk, even for White Trash Lord Kenmore.

I didn't realize Target had introduced a new downscale brand.
My local Hy-Vee grocery store has done the same thing with a store brand called "That's Smart."
It's kind of fun to watch people buying regular (not organic) milk...which comes in name brand, Hy-Vee brand and "That's Smart" brand. Of course I buy the cheapest one but many do not. Perhaps they are afraid it comes from generic cows...

I'm 99% sure that is a Sun made product just like CVS's Basics brand, Aldi's Tandil, and Walmart's GV stuff.
So the orange jug is something that is trying to make an equivalency with a Tide product?
For a while Walgreens had their own brand "compare to Tide" too...in an orange jug...also a Sun product.
What do people think about Woolite?
Oh, why not start a new opinion thread. It’s been awhile.
My experience has been that clothes such as knits emerge from a Woolite wash with less fading than from Cheer or other detergents such as Dreft, and there’s a marked difference, with much more fading etc from detergents such as Tide.
However Woolite still gets even clothes soaked through with Summer sweat completely clean. Of course something with enzymes is needed to get stains out.
It is surprisingly HE, makes virtually no suds, and rinses out well. A much larger dose is needed than with other detergents — first or second line in the cap even with a FL washer.
The white bottle scent is an acquired taste.
To me the price differential is worth it considering the total purchase price of all the garments in the washer load.

I purchased Woolite in the dark bottle at BJs. I used 2 tbs per load of permanent press/colors. Rinses clean and the scent is very mild. Cleaned very well. If I have stains I always pre-treat with SHOUT.
I liked Woolite in the dark bottle, I thought it cleaned well and reduced fading. Also found that clothes didn't shrink as much. Don't remember how well it did though on heavy stains. Really liked the scent, and low sudsing....no need for a second rinse. Plus it didn't irritate my skin.
It's a bit pricey though, one reason I haven't bought it lately.

One simply uses Persil color gel for dark wash loads
Have more than enough laundry products without adding even more just for dark laundry. Do have a few bottles left of Persil "Black Magic", but those are from a while back and gave very little to purchase.
German consumer magazine tested detergents for "darks" and found they were no better in preserving color or whatever than simply using a detergent for "colors". What one wanted to avoid are detergents containing optical brighteners/bluing agents. Those substances are apparently largest worry to dark clothing, acting like a bleach and or making them go all dusky looking.
Of course problem on this side of the pond is finding laundry detergents that aren't loaded with OBAs.

OBAs have nothing in common with bleaching agents. All they do is to make the blue parts of UV light visible to the human eye when it`s reflected from fabrics.
Just think about old fashioned bluing. Would it hurt using it for darks ? No it wouldn`t, but there would be a noticeable color change when used on pastel pink or yellow.
So why are most detergents designed for darks without OBAs ? I suppose it`s mostly because it would be an unnecessary chemical in those and consumers wouldn`t like the word brightener for their darks.

But the story was that detergent formulas for darks contained hydrogen peroxide which deactivates the chlorine in tap water so that it does not lighten the dark dye in fabrics. There is a statement mentioning deactivating chlorine on the label on the back of the jug of Cheer Color Guard Liquid HE for Dark Colors.
Tom, I looked up for a Cheer ingredients list, not sure how up to date those are but the powdered version indeed has an oxygen bleach and no OBAs listed.
The liquid does not contain any peroxide but enzymes and OBAs. The only color protecting ingredient I can see there is the enzyme cellulase. Maybe I am missing some other chlorine deactivating chemical in liquid Cheer but it`s certainly not hydrogen peroxide because it would not be stable together with the enzymes.

I was only stating what was on the label of a jug of Color Guard Cheer in my stash. It did not give ingredients either.
