How was that damage not noticed before installing? And why wasn’t it tested before installing under the cabinet if the damage was noticed to make sure it wouldn’t leak? A flashlight from inside could have even caught that.
I’m glad they’re replacing it and I hope the installer is going to be responsible for the damage if one was hired. These delivery services just flat out don’t care to be mindful of what they’re shipping. We had delivery of my MIL’s washer and dryer years ago and they scooted the dryer across the road pavement before it even had its feet installed, not that that wouldn’t be any worse. Before that, the first Whirlpool 920 dishwasher had the top right side of the door crushed in when delivered. I was livid and they delivered a brand new one, but the concept of treating people’s property like that is insane. These aren’t just machines to do a job like some industrial work room, these are part of our homes and it would be nice if we could trust service and delivery people to at least treat it as such.
Always be sure to inspect what they deliver before ever signing for it. Get your own box cutter and have it handy when they get there to open the box yourself and take all the insulation away to look for dents and gashes and check that the components inside haven’t been broken or missing. You’d be surprised at how many times working at HD that I saw dishwashers come in on the truck UPSIDE DOWN, so you know the racks were slammed together and jostled around.
